First, I want to congratulate Egbert, Johnston, and Skiff of Hanover Education First for their win in the election. I wish them the best in their service on the BoE.

I won’t make excuses or sugarcoat my disappointment in defeat. I ran in this election because I saw an opportunity to make a difference in my community. I am proud of my campaign and have no regrets. This was all very new to me, and I learned a lot. I do not know what the future holds, but I’d like to give a big thank you to everyone for their support.

There’s been a lot of conversation in the last day, so I’d like to clarify my position here.

In my opening statement at the LWV forum, I stated that one of the main pillars of my campaign is listening to and working with all different types of people- not just those that have the same views as me. I have held true to that statement as the only candidate that has agreed to participate in both forums to date.

I find it disappointing that we have not been able to get all 7 candidates together. I was happy to attend the LWV forum to be able to share my ideas with the community. I was also proud to be able to share many of my firsthand experiences as a teacher.

I am also happy to have met with Mr. Eames along with Christine, Gina, and Greg to try and put another candidate forum together. I think the voters deserve it. I welcome any opportunity to be able to get in front of the community and share my thoughts and ideas. I don’t care who is asking the questions, my answers will remain the same.

As a BOE candidate, I think it is critical to demonstrate the ability to work with everyone. It is imperative to be able to communicate effectively and respectfully both with fellow board members and the entire community.

One of the main pillars of my campaign is my ability and willingness to listen to and work with all different types of people and groups- not just those that have the same views as me.

I have stayed true to this sentiment throughout this process:
I am happy to have participated in the LWV Candidate Forum last week (link below if you have not yet watched). There is an effort to put another candidate night together so that voters can see all 7 candidates side by side. At the moment, there are 4 candidates, including myself, willing to participate. I welcome any opportunity to be able to share more about myself and my campaign.

Given the current climate surrounding this election around town, I want to emphasize that I respect all fellow candidates running for the BOE. I will continue to focus on my strengths, abilities, views, and ideas as the reason to vote for me. I encourage anyone with questions to reach out directly and I will be happy to answer and discuss.
