Dear Residents and Community Members,

We would like to take a moment to address the condition of North Second Street and provide an update on the upcoming improvement project.

The Village of Hanging Rock has approved a $90,000 street improvement project for North Second Street. Work is scheduled to begin during the last week of June. This project is an important investment in improving roadway conditions, safety, and overall accessibility for everyone who travels through the area.

We understand the current condition of the street has been a concern for many residents, and we sincerely appreciate the patience and understanding the community has shown while plans and funding were being finalized.

During construction, there may be temporary inconveniences, including delays and limited access at certain times. We ask for your continued cooperation as crews work to complete these much-needed improvements as safely and efficiently as possible.

Thank you again for your patience, support, and commitment to our community. We look forward to delivering a better and safer roadway for all residents and visitors.

Sincerely,

Chief Slusher

OPOTA Class BAS25-073 has demonstrated outstanding dedication, discipline, and professionalism throughout their training. Completing a police academy is no small accomplishment; it requires long hours, mental toughness, and a strong commitment to serving others. This class has met that challenge and earned its place among Ohio’s newest law enforcement professionals.

Their achievements reflect not only individual effort, but also the strength of their training and the guidance of their instructors. From mastering the fundamentals of law enforcement to developing the skills necessary to protect and serve their communities, BAS25-073 has set a high standard for those who follow.

We are especially proud to recognize our two new hires, Brock Campbell and Gabe Sexton, who are joining the Hanging Rock Police Department from this class. Their hard work, integrity, and readiness to serve will make them valuable assets to our community from day one. They represent the future of our department and bring the energy and commitment needed to continue providing quality law enforcement services.

We are also pleased to welcome Darin Cox as an auxiliary officer. As the Commander of the Southern Ohio Police Academy, his experience, leadership, and extensive knowledge of law enforcement training will be a tremendous asset to our department. He will bring valuable insight and much-needed training that will strengthen our officers and enhance our overall effectiveness.

Together, these individuals represent an important step forward for the Hanging Rock Police Department. Their addition reflects our continued commitment to growth, professionalism, and the safety of the community we proudly serve.

Congratulations to OPOTA Class BAS25-073, and welcome to the profession.

🚨 Attention Lawn Care Professionals (and anyone who owns a mower and isn’t afraid of a ticket… we mean weeds) 🚨

The Village of Hanging Rock is now accepting bids for lawn care services. 🌿🚜

If you or your business are interested in mowing and maintaining the village lawns, we’d love to hear from you. Just remember… around here we’re known for our speed traps, so if your mower goes faster than 25 mph you might want to ease off the throttle. 😅

All jokes aside, we’re looking for someone to help keep our village looking sharp this season.

If you’re interested, submit your bid or contact the Village Clerk for more information.

📞 Village Clerk: 740-532-7652

We truly appreciate the support of the local businesses and residents who help keep our community looking its best.

Huge thank you to the entire law enforcement community in Lawrence County who participated in making Shop with a Cop so magical this year! 💙🚓

A big, cheerful shoutout to Chief Slusher, his wife and their kids; Sgt. Cooper; and Officer Messer, his wife and daughter, for showing up with full hearts and spreading so much joy. You helped create holiday memories these little ones will carry with them for years to come✨

Moments like these remind us what the season is truly about, community, kindness, and families lifting each other up. Our officers didn’t just show up in uniform; they showed up with compassion, smiles, and Christmas spirit.

Feeling extra grateful for our department and the incredible families who stand behind them. 💙🎄on

Just another day in the Village of Hanging Rock… The Grinch showed up for patrol this evening 💚
Keep your eyes peeled as you might see him patrolling with Officer Burch!

So if your Christmas lights go missing or your cookies mysteriously disappear, don’t worry — Officer Grinch is on the case (or… causing the case, we’re not sure yet). 🎄🚔
Stay festive, stay alert, and maybe hide your presents!
