Our dear friend and association member Kathy needs our support during this difficult time.

Deputy Probation Officer Kathy Rodriguez began her career with the Kings County Probation Department 25 years ago and has served as a Juvenile Corrections Officer and Deputy Probation Officer. Kathy met her husband, Robert, at the Kings County Juvenile Center where they both worked as Juvenile Corrections Officers. Kathy’s and Robert’s love flourished over the years and have been married for 22 years. They have raised four beautiful daughters together, Daniella, Angel, Alyssa (17) and Mia (16).

On Saturday, June 24, 2023, Kathy, and Robert were involved in a tragic motorcycle accident that unexpectedly took the life of her husband, Robert. Kathy was the passenger on his motorcycle, and she sustained multiple injuries from the accident. She was airlifted to a local hospital where she has undergone surgeries and continues to recover from her injuries.

Kathy lost an amazing husband who was also an incredible son, brother, father, grandfather, and friend. Robert retired from the Kings County Juvenile Center in April 2021 as a Lieutenant. Retirement looked great on him as we all saw him spend time doing what did best, fixing cars and bringing them back to life. Robert opened an automotive shop with a good friend to fulfill his passion of working on older model cars and making them run like new.

Robert was proud of his daughters and all their accomplishments. Kathy and Robert were both looking forward to taking Alyssa to UC Davis this upcoming fall quarter. Alyssa is a first-generation student as she is the first in their family to pursue a bachelor’s degree. Robert was very proud of her accomplishments and was looking forward to helping her move into the dorms at UC Davis this fall. Robert was also a retired Army Veteran where he was stationed at Fort Hood, now known as Fort Cavazos, in Texas. During his service he earned multiple medals which included the National Defense Service Medal, Southwest Asia Service Medal with two bronze service stars, Kuwait Liberation Medal and many more.

Kathy and her family are currently facing difficult times. Kathy will go through an extensive recovery period and will face many medical expenses. In addition to medical expenses, Kathy faces the stresses and financial burden of the sudden death of her loving husband. During this time, any assistance would be greatly appreciated as it will help with her medical expenses and any financial burdens Kathy faces at this time. We want Kathy to have a smooth recovery and allow her to grieve without having to stress over finances.

Kathy and her family are so grateful for all the support her family, friends, and law enforcement partners have shown her. We are grateful for all your support.
