Copper Country United Way The Copper Country United Way (CCUW) is a local non-profit organization governed by a volunteer Board of Directors made up of local residents.

United Way is the largest source of non-governmental funding for health and human services in the United States. No other charitable investment has made as large or as deep an impact in the lives of this country's communities as their local United Way chapters. Although it is a member of United Way Worldwide headquartered in Washington, CCUW operates independently with the CCUW Board of Directors making policy and funding decisions that support our local community. CCUW's motto is - and always has been - "What is given here, stays here" - all donations are used only to support the local services of our Partner Agencies, listed below:

Alzheimer's Association 1-800-272-3900 Helps navigate the decisions and uncertainties those with Alzheimer's and their families have at every stage of the disease, including assessment of needs, assistance with planning and problem solving, respite care, supportive listening, and much more. Barbara Kettle Gundlach Shelter Home for Abused Women (906) 337-5632 A 24/7 response service for victims and children of domestic violence; provides emergency housing, support, and counseling. Big Brothers Big Sisters (906) 487-9855 Provides one-to-one friendship, guidance, and opportunities to children and youth, helping them to become more confident, competent, and caring individuals. Child and Family Services of the U.P. (906) 482-4488 One of Michigan's oldest family welfare organizations; specializes in adoptions of older, harder-to-place children. Works with runaways. Provides counseling and assistance to individuals and families. Dial Help Community Support & Outreach Center (906) 482-4357 or (800)-562-7622 or Text: (906) 35-63337 Provides 24/7 U.P. wide telephone/walk-in/instant messaging, and text crisis intervention and information and referral services, substance abuse outpatient treatment, substance abuse and violence prevention education, domestic violence intervention program, anger management classes, alcohol highway safety classes, individual, couples, and family counseling, intensive family support services, and services for victims of sexual assault and/or any other forms of crime.

4H of Houghton and Keweenaw Counties (906) 482-5830 Offers educational opportunities for youth to explore interests and new challenges while learning to work together with people of all ages. Girl Scouts of the Northwestern Great Lakes Houghton/Keweenaw Counties 1-888-747-6945 ext 3439 Offers an informational, value-centered educational program to teach girls ages 5-17 lessons in community service, career choices, marketing, patriotism, and individual potential in an all-girl setting. Goodwill Industries - Calumet Work Center (906) 482-6142 Provides pre-vocational, vocational, and self-advocacy training for people with disabilities through structured, hands-on training, supported employment, and transition services. Formerly Vocational Strategies. Hiawathaland District, Bay-Lakes Council, Boy Scouts of America Houghton/Keweenaw Counties 1-920-734-5705 Promotes self-reliance and character training for boys of all ages; develops useful skills, citizenship, courage, and other virtues. Keweenaw Family Resource Center (906) 482-9363 A local organization which offers programs, including playgroups and home visits, for families with infants and toddlers, providing information, support and encouragement. Phoenix House (906) 337-0763 Offers treatment facilities, programs and services for drug and alcohol dependent men and women. Salvation Army Hancock (906) 482-3420 Responds to every type of human service need; works in close cooperation with social agencies and area churches to provide assistance for those in need. Provides housing, food, and resources to those who need help. Upper Peninsula Emergency Medical Services 1-800-562-7849 Provides training, education and support to local emergency medical services personnel and first-responder programs. Western Upper Peninsula Healthcare Access Coalition (906) 482-7122 Provides limited medical services to uninsured, eligible adults.
