United Way is the largest source of non-governmental funding for health and human services in the United States. No other charitable investment has made as large or as deep an impact in the lives of this country's communities as their local United Way chapters. The Copper Country United Way (CCUW) was chartered in 1958. It is a local non-profit organization governed by a volunteer Board of Directo
rs made up of local residents. Although it is a member of United Way Worldwide headquartered in Washington, CCUW operates independently with the CCUW Board of Directors making policy and funding decisions that support our local community. Child and Family Services of the U.P. (906) 482-4488 One of Michigan's oldest family welfare organizations; specializes in adoptions of older, harder-to-place children. Works with runaways. Provides counseling and assistance to individuals and families.
