About Retaggio Imports:
Retaggio Imports is an Iron River based w**e importer founded by husband and wife team Joe Cimarelli and Silvia Lancianesi. Joe was born in Iron River, while Silvia is an Italian citizen, born and raised in Rome, Italy. Together, they have made the Upper Peninsula their home and combined their connections to both places through Retaggio. Their goal is to help bring unique w**es and grape varieties to the U.P., while working alongside the local distributors, restaurants, and specialty w**e retailers that have already been working to expand the region’s w**e culture. Retaggio began with Silvia’s native Italy and has since developed relationships with producers throughout Europe, with an emphasis on w**es that are not commonly found in the U.S. Joe and Silvia spend considerable time in the communities where their w**es are produced. In many of these small European villages, they have found a familiar sense of hospitality, family, and community that reminds them of life in the Upper Peninsula. One of those connections will be represented at the tasting through Cimarelli Verdicchio, from Staffolo in Italy’s Marche region. The Marche has its own ties to the U.P., including Iron Mountain’s sister-city relationship with Sassoferrato, while the Cimarelli w**ery also shares Joe’s family name.
