Air Combat Command’s Point Defense Task Force is rapidly advancing how we safeguard installations against complex airborne threats. By leveraging dedicated battle labs for tactical experimentation, we are turning innovative concepts into validated, deployable capabilities.

To bring readiness across the command, specialized Mobile Training Teams are already delivering intensive instruction to Airmen nationwide. Effective base defense requires a whole-of-government approach, and we are actively integrating joint partners to ensure operational security.

Through the Point Defense Task Force, Air Combat Command is conducting the experimentation and data analysis required to inform Headquarters Air Force decisions on Point Defense, a rapidly expanding

Airmen from the 52nd Combat Communications Squadron successfully put their tactical capabilities to the test during Exercise Gator Qual at Robins Air Force Base.

During the event, teams qualified on the Agile Communications Package and Fly-Away Communications Terminal, two next-generation systems designed to streamline downrange phone, data, and internet services.

These highly deployable communication kits utilize advanced virtualization software to digitally mimic heavy hardware, drastically reducing the physical footprint of our gear. This critical technological leap ensures our tactical teams can establish secure, rapid connectivity from even the most remote and austere locations.

The 461st Air Control Wing’s 52nd Combat Communications Squadron put its capabilities to the test during Exercise Gator Qual at Robins Air Force Base, Georgia, July 7-24, 2026.

Air Combat Command is redefining how we generate combat airpower through VENOM FORGE, a massive integration exercise recently executed at Creech Air Force Base. This dynamic training event united five wings, seven groups, and 17 squadrons to develop tactical-level maintenance leaders capable of executing complex mission-type orders under friction.

By conducting simultaneous fighter jet hot-pit refuels and helicopter medical evacuation drills, students experienced the realistic challenges of managing logistics in a contested environment. This highly successful exercise establishes a scalable training model that directly strengthens our global Agile Combat Employment capabilities.

An integration exercise designed to develop new tactics, techniques and procedures, combined support from five wings, seven groups and 17 squadrons across maintenance, logistics, operations, medical,
