On June 14th, 1777, the United States adopted the model for the American Flag, originally containing 13 stars, “white in a blue field, representing a new constellation.”

We want to share something special from our local woodwind group, which has already completed many performances this year in support of America’s 250th anniversary of independence, ensured through the service of your United States Armed Forces.

🎶 VIT 2026 🎸

Weeks of rehearsing paying off! Your United States Air Force Heritage of America Band amplified a busy season by supporting the Virginia International Tattoo!

This year’s Tattoo commemorated the 250th anniversary of American independence, and featured a wide selection of international talent as a part of the largest military Tattoo in the country. The band supported the King’s Cross Color Squadron, and performed a floor show, featuring SrA Felty, SSgt Mishler, SSgt Hammers, and SrA Dudley. You’ll see our band again attend the Tattoo in 2028!

We were excited to welcome Master Sergeant Justin Stamps earlier this month from the USAF Band, based in D.C.! MSgt Stamps came out to assist members with marching and ceremonial guidance in preparation for an upcoming tour featuring the Concert Band marching in parade formation.

Members from the band spent the day practicing their military bearing and ceremonial preparation in an effort to uphold standards of readiness and communicate up-to-date adaptations made within the USAF Bands.

One of our jazz combo groups was honored to support the Joint Base Langley-Eustis Volunteer Recognition Ceremony, celebrating some great work being done to support the base, and elevating the efforts of the Air Force, both by active duty and civilian members. This group’s augmentation precedes an upcoming series of performances in the Virginia Beach area, performing for a USO sponsored performance at a Veteran Care Center.
