Today was another County centric day. Started with Penobscot County Commission. Then this afternoon was the MSA/MCCA candidates forum, well organized event and a great chance to connect with many seeking office. Senator Collin took time from her schedule to join us. Troy Jackson canceled in the morning and was a no show. For Congress we heard from Paul LePage and Matt Dunlap in CD 2 and Ron Russell in CD 1. Gubernatorial candidates were Rick Bennett and Bobby Charles. Thanks to Troy Morton for organizing this and to all candidates who showed up.

Yesterday was a chance to visit with the Lincoln County Commissioners. A well run county. Special bonus got to visit with Sheriff Brackett and his team.

Scam Warning: Law Enforcement and Correctional Facilities Will Never Request Payment by Phone

The Penobscot County Sheriff's Office is warning residents about an increase in phone scams involving individuals falsely claiming to represent law enforcement or correctional facilities.

Scammers are contacting victims and claiming they have an outstanding arrest warrant that requires immediate payment of bail, fines, or fees to avoid arrest. In other cases, scammers are targeting families of incarcerated individuals, falsely offering reduced bail or electronic monitoring release services in exchange for payment.

These claims are false.

Law enforcement agencies and correctional facilities will never contact members of the public by phone to demand payment for bail, fines, fees, electronic monitoring services, or any other court- or jail-related costs.

Legitimate agencies will never instruct individuals to pay using gift cards, cryptocurrency, payment apps, wire transfers, or other unconventional payment methods.

Scammers often use fear, urgency, and spoofed phone numbers to make their calls appear legitimate
