Hampden-Sydney College Police Department The Hampden-Sydney College Police Dept. strives to enhance the Hampden-Sydney man's experience. We believe in helping create "Good Men, Good Citizens". T.M.

Message from the Chief,

The Hampden-Sydney Department of Public Safety’s strives to enhance the Hampden-Sydney man’s experience. We strive to facilitate faculty, students and staff efforts in their academic, administrative and research endeavors; and partner with all Hampden-Sydney community members in our efforts to protect life and property while upholding the Constitution of the United States.

We constantly strive to engage our community and maintain our student focus. Hampden-Sydney College police officers have the same training and police authority, including powers of arrest, as do all other police officers in the Commonwealth of Virginia. However, our fundamental approach to policing is specifically college-based. We work to protect our community and enhance their quality of life consistent with the context and mission of an institution of higher education. As a graduate of this great college in 1991, I understand the special place that is Hampden-Sydney. We work with integrity and the notion that every action undertaken corresponds to a specific value. Helping Hampden-Sydney form good men and good citizens is not only one of our goals…it is our promise. To us, working for HSPD is more than just a job. Hampden-Sydney College police officers must possess a wide range of abilities to perform our jobs effectively in this environment. Our badge symbolizes our sincere commitment and strong dedication to the Hampden-Sydney community. Whether you are a student, faculty, staff member, alumnus, or a visitor to our Campus, we want your experience at Hampden-Sydney to be a safe and enjoyable one. The Hampden-Sydney Police Department provides professional police, public safety, and emergency management services that include active police patrol 24 hours a day, 7 days a week; crime prevention services; critical incident response; criminal investigation; and support of our community. When you see us around campus, let us know if you have any safety or security questions or concerns. It is an honor and a privilege to serve as the Chief of Police at this prestigious and historic institution. It is our pleasure to assist you. Fowler
Chief of Police & Director of Public Safety

❗That phone 📲 call or text can wait❗

As teens learn to drive, the last thing they need is a distraction from doing so safely. Let's keep the phones away until we get where we are going!

This goes for everyone, remember, driving with a cell phone or communication device in your hand is against the law!

If you must use your phone, pull over to a safe and permissible area, use your phone, then continue to your destination. Everyone's safety depends on all drivers being aware of their surroundings and not distracted. Let's keep our focus on the road and all get where we are going safely!
