We have received many complaints about nuisance rabbits in the village and questions on what residents can do to help reduce rabbit activity. Please remember that under Village Ordinance 46-126, it is prohibited to discharge any firearm within the Village of Hammond. Reducing easy access to food and shelter is one of the most effective ways to discourage nuisance rabbits from settling in residential areas. On National Peace Officers Memorial Day, May 15, we honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to their communities.

We remember the fallen, support the families they left behind, and thank the officers who continue to serve with courage and dedication every day. Their sacrifice will never be forgotten.

Our hearts remain with the family and friends of Deputy Kaitie Leising and the members of the St. Croix County Sheriff's Office as we mark three years since Kaitie made the ultimate sacrifice. Her bravery, compassion, and unwavering dedication to others will continue to leave a lasting impact on all who knew her and the communities she so proudly served.
