While it’s exciting to share those first-day-of-school photos, it’s also a great time to take a moment and think about what information we’re putting online.
❌ Back-to-School Safety: What NOT to Share ❌
Before posting that adorable first-day photo, avoid including:
🏫 School name
🎂 Child’s age
👩🏫 Teacher’s name or grade
⭐ Interests, hobbies, or activities
📏 Identifying details, such as height, weight, or other unique characteristics
🔐 Personal information, including anything related to passwords or security questions
🏠 House numbers or street names
🚗 Vehicle information, including license plates
Information shared online can potentially be used by scammers, predators, or others with harmful intentions. And remember, privacy settings aren’t a guarantee that information will remain private.
If you’re sharing a first-day-of-school photo, consider keeping the caption simple and leaving out details that could help someone identify, locate, or learn more about your child.
🎒 Stay safe, stay smart, and have a wonderful school year! 📚✨
