Office of the North Township Trustee Servicing the communities of Whiting, East Chicago, Hammond, Highland, Munster and Griffith, Indiana.

Currently, the North Township is the largest of the state of Indiana's 1,008 townships. We are a government agency serving the communities of Whiting, East Chicago, Hammond, Highland, Munster and Griffith. Our primary function is to provide assistance to those in need. The Office of the North Township Trustee offers a number of programs to our Township residents in an effort to best serve our comm

unities. From the Dial-A-Ride program with free bus service to medical appointments and grocery shopping, relief assistance, energy assistance, senior citizen luncheons, summer concerts and numerous special events, there are a number of programs designed to enhance the quality of life for North Township residents. We had an amazing and successful Senior Luncheon on yesterday! A special thank you to Hearing Life for serving as our featured vendor and providing valuable information and resources to our seniors.

The event was filled with delicious food, great fellowship, exciting door prizes, and plenty of smiles. We are grateful for the opportunity to continue creating meaningful moments and supportive spaces for our senior community. Here’s to many more wonderful gatherings ahead!

⛈️ FAMILY CAMPOUT RESCHEDULED ⛈️

Due to inclement weather, the North Township Family Campout has been rescheduled to Friday, July 31, 2026.

The safety and enjoyment of our families are our top priorities, and we made this decision to ensure a better experience for everyone.

We look forward to a fun-filled evening of camping, crafts, music, a movie, bonfires, and s’mores at Wicker Memorial Park Pavilion on July 31st. Thank you for your understanding, and we can’t wait to see you on the new date!
