Trunk or Treat volunteer sign up for the UPPER SIDE ONLY. Trunk or Treat will be split this year. If you are interested in signing up to decorate a trunk for October 23, then please use the QR code to sign up. Also, we will start accepting candy donations immediately. All donations can be sent to school with your student or dropped off in the Upper Office. Thanks!

🌻 WE WANT TO HEAR FROM OUR STUDENTS! 💜💙

At Hammond Westside Montessori Upper, we are committed to making sure every child gets the support they need to thrive! 🌪️

This fall, our students will have the opportunity to participate in two important surveys that help us better understand their strengths, needs, experiences, and areas where additional support may be helpful.

💜 LA Caring Communities Youth Survey
👥 Grades 6, 8, 10 & 12
📅 Opens November 30, 2026

These surveys will be completed during class time at school, so families do not need to do anything to prepare.

Your child’s voice matters! 🗣️💜 Their input helps us build a stronger, healthier, and more supportive learning community for all of our Whirlwinds.

🏃‍♀️💜 GIRLS ON THE RUN KICKOFF! 💜🏃‍♀️

Rain 🌧️ didn’t stop us from having the MOST FUN! These girls showed up ready to laugh, move, make connections, and get some exercise in! 💪✨

We kicked off our Girls on the Run season with lots of smiles, energy, and a little bit of rain! ☔️💜

I already know this is going to be an AMAZING season! These girls are ready to DO HARD THINGS! 💪🏃‍♀️💜

We are working 9-25 right now so why not dress the part! All staff and students can wear pink shirts and/or pink accessories with jeans on Friday, September 25. Remember, no rips, tears, or holes in jeans with no jean shorts allowed.

On Friday, students in Mrs. Thomas' class acted out two scenes from Stave II “Ghost of Christmas Past” from A Christmas Carol and completed a Venn-Diagram comparing the two main characters from two different texts.

We held strong with 94% attendance, but we didn't reach our goal of 95% for a jean day. Let's keep working Whirlwinds!

Lexia All-Stars! Shout out to these homerooms for having our highest completion rate for their grade level. These classes will receive popsicles during their recess time next week.

Yesterday, we had the pleasure of hosting the Magnet Schools of America CEO and President on campus to show off the wonderful things happening at HWMS. Our guests were so impressed with our campus and students. We love showing off what we see each day!
