Today marks one year since Chasity Galbreath was reported missing.

She was last seen on January 9, 2025, on surveillance video at the Love’s Travel Center in Jasper, Alabama, and was occupying an orange Jeep Renegade. Chasity was later reported to have walked away from the vehicle after it became disabled during a winter weather event on County Highway 45, north of I-22 near the Pea Ridge community in rural Marion County.

One year has passed, but the search for answers continues, and her family and loved ones have not been forgotten.

If you have any information that may help bring closure in this case, please contact the Marion County Sheriff’s Office at (205) 921-7433.

Any information, no matter how small, could be important.

Santa BOLO 🎅
We are receiving some preliminary information from the North Pole Police Department regarding a BOLO (Be On the LookOut) for a red vehicle traveling across the country at a high rate of speed. We should have enough information to release the BOLO around 6:00 PM tonight (Christmas Eve).

You can monitor the BOLO in real-time on the Marion County law enforcement frequency using a scanner, or there are various apps/websites that stream scanner audio. We'll post a few of them in the comments, and also post a recording afterwards in case you missed it.

No matter how you celebrate the holidays, we hope it centers around sharing time, gifts, food, and love with family, friends, and coworkers.
I would like to take this opportunity to recognize and express my gratitude to our outstanding staff for everything they do for our office and community. I want to thank all our deputies and civilian staff for their dedication and encourage you to do the same when you see them.
We are all very thankful for their hard work and commitment to our office and community throughout the year, not just around the holidays. I believe it is essential to show our appreciation to those who have been vital to our organization's success.
I would also like to thank our community for all they have done to make our area a safer place to live and raise a family.
If you plan to be away from home this holiday season, please use caution when traveling. The following are good reminders as you prepare to travel:
• Always wear a seat belt.
• Do not drink and drive.
• Do not use cell phones or other devices while driving.
• Know local traffic laws before you get behind the wheel.
• If traveling with children, use the appropriate car and booster seats.
For more information on travel safety, visit the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention: Traffic and Road Safety.
Enjoy your holiday season in safety and happiness.
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!

As Thanksgiving approaches, I am reminded of how fortunate I am to serve our community with such an outstanding group of people. The deputies and administrative support staff at Marion County Sheriff’s Office are dedicated, hard-working, and committed to serving our county’s citizens. To show them that you value them as much as I do, I encourage you to give them a friendly smile or a kind word to let them know you appreciate them. I am truly fortunate to have them by my side.

I would especially like to extend my sincerest appreciation to the citizens of Marion County. Your efforts to enhance safety and cooperation with our office help make our County a great place to live and work. I am grateful for your assistance through the crime tips hotline, website, and in person. I sincerely appreciate your commitment to the safety of our community.

I will continue to work with you to improve the quality of life for each resident we serve. The support you’ve shown the Sheriff’s Office during 2025 has been overwhelming. I am very thankful.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Veterans Day

Each year on November 11, Americans honor the service and sacrifice of all those who have served in the United States Military, Both Living and Deceased. Veterans Day services as a reminder of their bravery, patriotism, and dedication.
We are humbled by the courage of the veterans in our community and our country - they are our neighbors, our friends, our families, and our loved ones.
We strongly encourage everyone to think of our veterans and thank them when you see them. We support and honor our veterans, not just on Veterans Day but every day of the year.

The Halloween Holiday is coming up soon! We remind you to prioritize safety this Halloween when craving pumpkins, decorating, dressing up in costumes, and trick-or-treating.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has several safety tips to help children remain safe while still experiencing the fun and excitement that comes with Halloween.

• Costumes: Need to be made of flame-resistant fabric and should be brightly colored or trimmed with reflective tape to make them visible to vehicles at night. Also, ensure the costume fits and avoid overly long or baggy costumes to prevent trips and falls.
• Masks: Should have eye holes large enough to allow full visibility and nose holes that allow for adequate breathing.
• Candles: Candle-lit jack-o-lanterns and other decorations should be located where children cannot brush up against that flame (try using LED lights instead).
• Treats: Use reflected tape on treat bags and check to ensure treats are individually wrapped for safety purposes. Additionally, do not give toys with small parts to children under age 3.

This is just a few of the recommendations.

Halloween can be a safe and enjoyable evening for all with some preparation, communication and diligence. Of course, we will be on patrol and available to you and your children if you need us. As always, dial 911 in case of an emergency or the Sheriff’s Department at 205-921-7433.
We appreciate your cooperation.

**SCAM ALERT**
It has been brought to our attention, that two inmates’ families have been victimized this weekend by fake bonding companies. If you receive a phone call from a random person claiming to be a bail bondsman, do not immediately send them money to get your family member or friend out of jail.
We highly recommend to meet a bonding company at the Marion County Jail in person to pay their fee if you are going to use a bonding company to get someone out of jail. But at the same time, we understand that sometimes it is not possible to meet in person.
If you must send money electronically, we highly recommend that you do your research first. Do not let the person pressure you into sending money immediately. Each bonding company that is licensed to do business at the Marion County Jail is good at communicating with our staff before attempting to bond someone out.
In order to prevent you to being scammed, we highly recommend you ask the person for their name and call back number along with the name of the company that they work for. Then you can call the Marion County Jail at (205) 921-7433 and verify that the person is a licensed agent with the company that they claim to work for. Also, the Marion County Jail staff can verify if a legitimate bonding company has called and inquired to getting your family or friend out of jail. While you are on the phone with jail staff, you can also verify that your family or friend is able to bond out of jail. And you can also verify their charge(s) and bond amount to make sure the person that claims to be a bail bondsman is telling you the truth.
If the bonding company has not already been in contact with the jail before contacting you, it is a very good possibility that it is a SCAM. Do not send them any information or money.
If you are in the process of using a bail bondsman, please call the Marion County Jail and we can provide you with the names and phone numbers of companies that are licensed in our county.
