Haven House Emergency Shelter

Haven House Emergency Shelter The Haven House Emergency Shelter first opened it's doors in 1982, providing homeless Men, Women & Children with a clean and comfortable place to stay.

Our shelter is open 365 days a year, 24 hours a day. We supply two hot meals a day with a snack for lunch and milk/formula for infants and children; we also provide necessary clothing and shoes as well as toiletry items. The Haven House not only provides the basic needs but also prides itself on helping those who are homeless establish a more secure future before leaving the shelter. Our paid tra

staff work with individuals on a daily basis helping to find permanent and temporary housing as well as medical need such as: Medical Aide, Prescriptions and Eye Care. We work closely with several different agencies: The Red Cross, Salvation Army, Welfare Dept., United Way, the local Police and Sheriffs Dept., local hospitals, local churches, etc. Most of those who are willing to help themselves leave our shelter with having found employment, housing, and a future.

Haven House is continuing services. We cannot close our doors or services. We are taking every precaution possible to prevent the spread of the Covid-19 virus to our clients and staff. With that in mind we are asking anyone that wants to donate to please drop off items at our High St. doors and ring the bell to inform staff of the drop off. We will then retrieve the items after you have left, this will hopefully reduce the amount of social interaction between staff and donors. We are doing this for all of our staff, client and donors health in mind. If you need a receipt we will bring it to you at the doors if requested.

Haven House will only be accepting food, cleaning supplies and paper product donations at this time. Preprepared/at home cooked food will also be restricted for at least the next 14 days.

Haven House is always prepared for these type of events and has stock and protocols in place but we will be needing supplies at some point. If you would like to donate please feel free to drop off at any time or you can donate monetarily on our website havenhouseshelter.org

Thank you to all our supporters and friends. Please keep us in your prayers during this trying time.

Dear Friends and Partners of the Haven House:

We trust that the Lord is watching over you and meeting your every need. Thanks to the supporters of the Haven House our needs are being met. It’s a miracle every month that our bills are paid, especially when Haven House’s utility bills are so high.

With the world in such trouble, our shelter is being called upon more than ever. We sincerely pray for every family that enters the door of the Haven House. Some of them are so embarrassed; they have never been in this situation before. Most of them are desperate to find anything that will be a roof over their heads, but our Lord and Savior understands. He said in Matthew 8:20 “The foxes have holes, and the birds of the air have nest; but the Son of man hath not where to lay his head.”

Every time that you help one of these little ones, it’s the same as doing it unto the Lord. I’m sure that some of you that contribute to the shelter could use the money yourselves, but your love for God and the Spirit that is within you leads you to help somebody else.

Rest assured that what you do to help your fellow man will not go in vain. On the back of this letter you will find a picture of a cup with some loose change in it. Last weekend the weather was a little nicer than it had been and a couple of children decided to have a lemonade stand. When they were finished they donated the money to help the children at Haven House. That seven dollars might not be a lot to everyone but it meant the world to the staff. Thank you again to every one of you that supports the Haven House. We pray for you daily. I’m sure that God is going to take care of you and all of your needs.
