Third in the WORLD. 🌎️
Let that sink in.

These talented Freedom and Plains 6th and 7th grade students, known as the Pyramid-Life Crisis team, returned from the Destination Imagination Global Finals in Kansas City with an incredible third-place finish in the Middle Level Technical Challenge!πŸ€©πŸŽ‰

Kaelyn, Joanna, Elaina, Trisha, Bryn and Norah competed against teams from around the globe, including China, Turkey, Mexico and Guatemala.

While embracing the engineering design process and collaborative problem solving, they learned how to use power tools and soldering irons; coded; wired circuits; recorded sound effects; solved technical problems ;and spent countless hours building, testing, adapting and creating.

Their final performance featured time travel, game shows, humor, creativity and nonstop innovation!

Please help us congratulate these amazing students on an extraordinary achievement! πŸŒπŸ†

The stakes were low ⬇️ but the energy was high ⬆️ at the first-ever Lakota mousetrap car race. πŸš—πŸ

Yes, you read that right...mousetrap cars. πŸ˜‚ All four junior school design and modeling Butler Tech teachers gave their students a taste of the competition they could experience at the high school level. After building (and re-building) their custom cars, students faced off against students from rival schools to crown the top performing designs. πŸ₯‡πŸ₯ˆπŸ₯‰

There are moments at graduation that stay with you long after the ceremony ends...and this is one of them.

Listening to Bella Rodriguez sing β€œFor Good” from Wicked at this year's Lakota East commencement, it’s hard not to reflect on the impact our students have on all of us. Their stories, growth and voices shape our schools in meaningful ways, and WE are better because of them. β€οΈπŸ–€πŸ€

Did anyone spend Memorial Day with a visit to the all-new USS Cincinnati Memorial Peace Pavilion? πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ

A few of the VIP speakers in town for the Pavilion's opening event earlier this month took a detour to speak with some of our students at both East and West. 🀩 A few of them former U.S. Navy commanding officers of nuclear submarines, they offered up a lot of great stories and advice to future potential Navy sailors. βš“οΈπŸš’

Thank you for your service and for spending the afternoon with our students! πŸ™
