Butler Tech Fire Technology Engine 343

Butler Tech Fire Technology Engine 343 Firefighting and Emergency Medical Technician Training in high school You’ll also be eligible for further advanced training as a paramedic.

Join the ranks of the country’s Domestic Preparedness Officers as Firefighters and Emergency Medical Technicians. Successful graduates of this program are eligible for hire as a full-time Level II Firefighter (top Ohio certification) in any municipality, and a Nationally Registered Emergency Medical Technician-Basic. As a firefighter, you’ll be called upon to assist those in dire need in many high

ly unusual circumstances. As an NREMT-B, you’ll be licensed to function as ambulance attendants within, or outside of a fire department helping those with emergency medical needs anywhere in the country. You’ll learn how to safely manage fire within structures by actually entering into a controlled burn atmosphere in your senior year. You’ll learn basic rope rappelling techniques, auto extrication techniques, and hazardous materials response. This very popular hands-on program keeps students excited and “fully engaged” throughout the entire school year from fighting fires to making mock ambulance runs on campus in a real fire truck and ambulance.

The 8th Cincinnati Fire Department Field Trip is in the books.
Super big thank you to 2007 Fire Technology graduate, Trent Carter who is now a Firefighter/EMT/FAO/ and a Local 48 Vice president who arranges this field trip every year.
The day began at Station 14 where the guys took the students on a tour, showcased the equipment on the R14, the bomb unit, the haz-mat unit, and E-14. After a stop at the Firefighter Memorial, we found our way to the Cincinnati Firefighter's Union Hall where T-17 came and allowed every student in attendance the opportunity to climb the 100ft aerial ladder.
Several members of the Cincinnati Fire Department came to the union hall from various divisions and talked to the students about a career at Cincinnati Fire.
A big special THANK YOU to all the men and women of Cincinnati Fire that took time out of their day to spend with the students.

This past Friday was the Fire Program's Career Fair. What a great showing with plenty of support from area Fire departments. Lots of connections were made between department representatives and students.
In addition, we took advantage of the event and dedicated a plaque in memory of Mr. Ed. Emley who was the Fire Program's first Instructor. (2003 - 2013) Mr. Emley educated and mentored numerous young adults through the program. Many of them now serving the communities many of us live in. Huge Thank You to all of the departments who came out for the event.

Its Skills USA competition season. This year, junior students Avery Jenkins and Laine Coomer traveled to Columbus, Ohio to compete in the State SkillsUSA competition.
The group of volunteers that host the event have done a fantastic job of improving the competition over the past few years. Special thanks to these volunteers that make this event possible.
We will know by noon tomorrow if one of these model students will go on to represent the State of Ohio at the National Competition in June. Whether they do or not, they are already champions in my book. They showed up and put up 100% effort today!!!! Congratulations to you both!!!

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you to everyone who came out this morning to the pancake breakfast, those who shared our event post and donated additional money to the student CTSO program. As always, the students did a fantastic job.
Special thanks to Chef Tyler Simpson and the culinary students who were present this morning volunteering their time. Without the involvement of the Culinary Program, we wouldn't have this great CTSO fundraiser. See all of you next year.
