Franklin Delano Mobley, 76, of Hamilton, passed away on August 25, 2023, at the ECU Health Medical Center of Greenville, North Carolina.

Frank was born on September 4, 1946, to Jessie and Etha Scott Mobley in Pitt County. He was the youngest son of this big loving family. Frank graduated from East Carolina University with BS in Education. He married the love of his life Judy Clark on January 27, 1968, and to this marriage they had three children. Frank taught and coached at multiple schools in Martin County. He furthered his education with a master’s degree in physical education, principalship, math and science. Frank was a member of the Hamilton Volunteer Fire Department and EMT with Hamilton Rescue. He was very active in the American Legion Post 131 in Hamilton where he served as a Commander. He was well-known for carrying the American Flag in the annual parade and Memorial Day events. One of Frank’s greatest honors was to present the flag to the next of kin at funerals of those that served in the military. He was a lifelong member of Hamilton Church of Christ serving as an Elder and Deacon. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, reading, playing softball, and umpiring rec ball. Frank was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. He lived the definition of an honorable man. Frank will be greatly missed by those that had the honor of meeting him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jessie and Etha Mobley and multiple siblings.

Franklin is survived by his wife Judy, two daughters, Lindy Mobley (Bedford) Mundell of Bethel and Jessica Mobley (Croce) Amato of Enfield; a son, Franklin Brandon (Holly Pieper) Mobley of Hamilton; three grandsons, Michael, Tyler, and Cameron; five granddaughters, Christina, Katilynn, Lauryn, Cadence, and Alessia; one great-granddaughter, Gabriella; a sister, Beulah Stalls; and a brother, Bud Mobley.

The family will receive friends, Monday, August 28, 2023, from 6:00-8:00PM at Hamilton Church of Christ Fellowship Hall, 204 Front Street, Hamilton, NC 27840.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held Tuesday, August 29, 2023, at 11:00AM at the Hamilton Church of Christ. Rev. Warren Grubbs will be officiating the service.

In accordance, with the new Executive order 124 released by Governor Cooper, there will be no penalties, collection of penalties, or shut offs for at least the next 60 days. This will not erase the bill it will still continue to accumulate for those whom are not able to pay their bill. For those that are affected by this a reasonable repayment plan can be worked out on a group or individual basis depending on the needs of the town. If you have any concerns or questions please contact the clerk at town hall.

The Hamilton Town Hall Office will be closed on December 24-25th 2019 for the Christmas Holiday. The office will re-open on December 26th, 2019 at 8:00 AM. Have a very Merry Christmas!! - Town Staff

It is currently Public Power Week! Come help us celebrate the Town of Hamilton Public Power Day on Thursday, October 10 from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at the Hamilton Town Hall. Refreshments will be served and prizes will be given away.

The following was posted on our town website yesterday:

Due to the uncertain path that Hurricane Dorian may take, the Town of Hamilton Monthly Board Meeting scheduled for September 5, 2019 will be postponed and rescheduled for September 12, 2019 at 7:00 p.m. For emergencies during this period, please contact William Freeman, Maintenance Supervisor at (252) 217-7376.

Martin County is currently under a Tropical Storm Watch. Martin County is under a State of Emergency effective Wednesday, September 4 at 12:00 p.m. A curfew will begin at 10:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 4 until 6:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 5. Another curfew will follow beginning at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 5 until 6:00 a.m. on Friday, September 6. Also, the transport of fuels in unapproved containers and unlawfully owned weapons are restricted during the State of Emergency period.
