This morning, our County Commissioners approved a moratorium on data centers in six of our townships.

I support the Commissioners’ decision to enact a moratorium on new data centers.

This is a reasonable and responsible step as we continue to learn more about the potential impacts these facilities can have on local communities, infrastructure, utilities, water resources, and the environment.

The Ohio House Select Committee on Data Centers is also gathering information and studying the impacts of data center development across our state. Taking time to gather facts and evaluate the experiences of other communities before making long-term decisions is simply good government.

A temporary pause allows us to make informed decisions that protect Butler County residents while planning for our future.

🇺🇸 Today in History 🇺🇸

On this day in 1776, the Second Continental Congress appointed the “Committee of Five” to draft what would become the Declaration of Independence.

The committee consisted of Benjamin Franklin of Pennsylvania, Thomas Jefferson of Virginia, John Adams of Massachusetts, Robert R. Livingston of New York, and Roger Sherman of Connecticut.

Their task was to prepare a declaration explaining why the American colonies were seeking independence from Great Britain. Less than a month later, on July 4, 1776, the Declaration of Independence was adopted, forever changing the course of history.

As we approach America’s 250th Anniversary, we remember the vision, courage, and leadership of our Founding Fathers. 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

This historic day gives us an opportunity to reflect on the courage, sacrifice, and vision of those who founded our nation and secured the freedoms we enjoy today.

Our Butler County cities and townships will be hosting events and celebrations to commemorate America’s 250th Anniversary. I encourage everyone to take part in these special activities as we honor our nation’s past, celebrate our present, and look forward to an even brighter future!

Today’s Memorial Day ceremony and Wreath Laying was deeply moving and a powerful reminder of what this day truly represents.

Hearing from our Gold Star families and from those who fought to protect our freedoms was a powerful reminder of the true cost of liberty.

Their courage, their love, and their sacrifice will never be forgotten. 🇺🇸
