Our director, Bethany, knows how difficult it can be to shop with kids, so she created this new Kids Zone to help make shopping at Open Door Food Pantry an enjoyable experience for all ages! The space contains gently-used books, toys, and a sitting area. We have more books coming tomorrow, including Spanish language books! Thank you for leading this, Bethany - we are excited to see this space grow!

GREEN fruits and vegetables are a great way to celebrate St. Patrick's Day this week - and we are so excited to have them for you!! Be sure to get some delicious avocados while supplies last to make this authentic guacamole recipe for you and the whole family!

2 ripe avocados
1/4 onion finely chopped
1 jalapeno finely chopped (optional)
1/4 cup Cilantro finely chopped
1-2 teaspoons of lime juice
salt to taste
1-2 tomato finely chopped

Instructions
Peel the avocado and remove the core.
Mash the avocado in a molcajete until it reaches your desired consistency
Add the onion, jalapeno, cilantro and tomato and mix well.
Add lime juice and salt to taste.

Las frutas y verduras verdes son una excelente manera de celebrar el Día de San Patricio esta semana, ¡y nos entusiasma mucho tenerlas disponibles para ustedes! ¡Asegúrense de llevarse unos deliciosos aguacates —mientras duren las existencias— para preparar esta auténtica receta de guacamole para ustedes y toda la familia!

2 aguacates maduros
1/4 de cebolla finamente picada
1 chile jalapeño finamente picado (opcional)
1/4 de taza de cilantro finamente picado
1-2 cucharaditas de jugo de lima
Sal al gusto
1-2 tomates finamente picados

Instrucciones
Pela los aguacates y retira el hueso.
Machaca los aguacates en un molcajete hasta alcanzar la consistencia deseada.
Agrega la cebolla, el jalapeño, el cilantro y el tomate, y mezcla bien.
Añade el jugo de lima y la sal al gusto.

We LOVE delivery days!!! This week's deliveries have brought us several favorites, including Dot's Pretzels, Bob Evans side dishes, and BREAD! We love how the fresh bread makes the whole pantry smell warm & inviting.

We are open tomorrow 10AM - 2PM so be sure to visit before these yummy items are gone!

He makes sure our shelves are always fully stocked, our space is clean and organized, and he always has a smile for our guests and staff! In the meantime, we plan to be back open on Monday February 2 at 10am. A reminder that, f we encounter more snow this winter, our closures follow Hamilton City School District closures, so check their status before venturing to the pantry on bad weather days!
