Ravalli County DUI Task Force

Ravalli County DUI Task Force The Ravalli County DUI Task Force was created in the mid 1990's. The Task Force is funded by drivers license reinstatement fees.

The 8th Grade Transitions Program was started in 2008 in Corvallis Middle School, and has expanded to all middle schools in the valley. The DUI Task Force spends a week in April, of each year, traveling to area school; providing our Impaired Driving Education Program, Guest Speakers from around the county, and various other classes taught by Law Enforcement, First Responders, Counselors and Profe

ssional Instructors. This program is designed to help the 8th graders, as they make their transition into high school. Our Impaired Driving Education Program (IDEP) gives the students hands on experience in understanding how impaired driving effects their vision and coordination. The students first drive a course un-impaired with a trained instructor. The students then put on a pair of fatal vision goggles that simulate a blood alcohol content above the legal limit. After the course, Law Enforcement Officers put the students through field sobriety testing, so they can further see how their vision and coordination is effected. The DUI Task Force also:

-Coordinates compliance checks for underage purchase of alcohol
-Provides Law Enforcement overtime runs to detect and apprehend impaired drivers.
-Education for public perception and legislative education for state laws.

The City of Hamilton asks that vehicles parked on Main Street be moved to allow for the streets to be swept.

Main Street is regularly scheduled for sweeping on Friday mornings. During the hours of midnight until 6am vehicles are prohibited from parking on Hamilton's Main Street between the signs located on the blocks from Highway 93 to the intersection of Main and 4th Street. Vehicles parked overnight may be ticketed.

Besides helping to put the best face on our downtown area for residents and visitors alike, street sweeping helps the City of Hamilton comply with state and federal stormwater quality requirements. Street sweeping helps remove debris, leaves, and dirt that can clog storm drains, contribute to air pollution, and create hazardous driving conditions.

Driver's have an important part in safely arriving at their destination....making sure everyone is buckled up, safe speeds, driving without distractions such as the use of cell phones and sober driving. Drive like your life and your passenger's lives depend on it!

Looking forward to more programs in the schools!
