🚧 ROAD CLOSURE UPDATE – BRIDGE STREET

The Hamilton DPW has announced that Bridge Street will be closed from Route 1A to School Street on Monday, October 26, 2026, beginning at 7:00 AM until work is completed.

Please plan accordingly, allow extra time for travel, and seek alternate routes during the closure.

📢 Update: Bridge Street Closure Rescheduled to Monday, October 26

Due to a delay, the final paving work on Bridge Street has been rescheduled from Friday, October 23rd, to Monday, October 26th, beginning at 7:00 AM.

Bridge Street, from Route 1A to School Street, will be closed to all traffic except school buses until work is complete.

Please plan your route in advance, follow posted detour signs, and allow extra time to reach your destination.

Please note that all road work is weather-dependent. Updates will be shared as needed.

🐈 FOUND CAT – HAMILTON, MA

The Hamilton Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in locating the owner of a male cat found on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, in the area of 280 Asbury Street.

The cat is approximately 14 years old and is currently being cared for at Hamilton-Wenham Veterinary Hospital on Railroad Avenue.

If you recognize this cat or have any information that may help identify its owner, please contact Animal Control through the Hamilton Police Department’s non-emergency line at 978-468-1212.

🚧 Traffic Advisory – Bridge Street

The Hamilton Police Department would like to notify residents that sidewalk construction will be taking place on Bridge Street tomorrow, Saturday, October 17, from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM.

Motorists should expect possible traffic delays and detours while construction crews are working. Please use caution when traveling through the area and follow any posted detours.

This dog was found on Echo Cove Road in Hamilton, and we’re looking to reunite them with their owner.

UPDATE

The car has been safely extricated from the lake with the assistance of New Beverly Auto and the Beverly Dive Team. Both individuals involved in this incident were treated on scene, are safe and went home with a family member. The Chebacco Lake Boat Launch is back open and accessible to the public. The cooperation, coordination, and support provided by each agency demonstrates the importance of teamwork and collaboration in serving and protecting our community. Thank you to everyone who assisted and contributed on this call.

PRESS RELEASE

On Friday, October 2nd, 2026 at approximately 10:08 A.M., The Hamilton Police and Hamilton Fire Departments were dispatched to the Chebacco Lake Boat Launch for a report of a vehicle into the water. Units arrived to find two older adults in their 80's from Beverly, who had been pulled from the water by a good samaritan. Both individuals were treated on scene by EMS and the vehicle continued to drift into the lake. Arrangements are being made to remove the vehicle and the accident is being investigated by the Hamilton Police. Assistance on scene was provided by Essex Police and Fire, Environmental Police, Beverly Dive Team, Manchester By The Sea Police, and DEP.

The Hamilton Police and Fire Department would like to thank everyone who came out today and helped make our Public Safety Day such a great success!

We hope everyone who attended had a great time, enjoyed the activities, and had an opportunity to meet the men and women who work to keep our community safe.

A special thank you to the Massachusetts State Police, Essex County Sheriff’s Department, Beauport Ambulance, and NEMLEC for coming out and taking part in today’s event. Your participation helped make the day even more special for our community, and we truly appreciate your support.

We would also like to thank everyone who helped organize, volunteer, and contribute to making today possible.

Most importantly, thank you to everyone who came out and spent the day with us! We loved seeing so many members of the community come together.
