A CASA is a Court Appointed Special Advocate, a trained volunteer who amplifies the voice of a child in foster care and helps ensure they don’t fall through the cracks. 🫶

Right now, as children navigate an increasingly complex and rapidly changing child welfare system, CASA volunteers are more important than ever. They provide stability, consistency, and a trusted adult who shows up when everything else feels uncertain.

A lot has changed in the last 10 years. We had a second kid, we own a law firm, so many things have come and gone over that time. One thing that was consistent was where I was on the last Monday evening of the month.

Starting in 2016, I have spent the last Monday evening of each month volunteering as a board member at Parachute Butler County Casa. However, after almost 10 years volunteering, tonight was my last meeting as I have completed the max amount of time allowed on the board.

I am so grateful that I was able to be a small part of this mission for so long and will always be around to help when I can.

If there is a young lawyer out there wanting to serve in an organization dedicated to serving the most vulnerable members of our community, I know an empty seat that needs filled!

Every year on or around June 21, United Way organizations across the world make a difference by hosting a Day of Action in their communities. This year, we are hosting a Community Baby Shower to benefit Sojourner Recovery Services Perinatal Program.

Young women who are new to college need to be aware of their surroundings and know how to protect themselves. That's why West Chester Police created Self-defense and Awareness through Fundamental Education (S.A.F.E.).

Requested by parents, the program focuses on teaching practical skills for campus safety. Sessions include rigorous self-defense training, situational awareness and personal protection. The only session of S.A.F.E. this year will be June 22-26, 10 a.m. to noon, in Lakota West High School’s wrestling room.
