We recently had the privilege to sit on a panel hosted by EmPath For Autism. It's important to have a family safety plan in place and prepare before an emergency strikes.

Huge congratulations to the 9 members of our ERS team who recently completed an intensive, week-long class to earn their Swift Water Technician Certification! 👏

We sent this dedicated group to the Bowling Green State University Water Rescue Technician course and the experience was top-notch. A massive thank you to their amazing instructors—the training and scenarios they provided were absolutely phenomenal, equipping our team with advanced, hands-on skills that are second to none.

What does this mean for our community? It means Butler County is safer. Achieving a Swift Water Tech certification is no small feat; it requires rigorous training to master complex water rescue operations. Having these highly trained members ready to deploy ensures a faster, more effective, and safer response to flood and water emergencies across the county.

The team members put in the heavy lifting, adapted to the conditions, and got the job done. We couldn't be prouder of their continued commitment to protecting and serving our residents.

Please join us in congratulating these members on a job well done!

Precision under pressure. 🚁🌊 Our ERS Unit and Aviation Unit demonstrated aerial water rescue techniques today at the 19th Annual Riverway Summit. Huge thanks to the Fitton Center and the Great Miami Riverway for inviting us to be part of this incredible event! From the drone's view to the victim's perspective in the river, today was all about technical skill and community safety. Great work by the pilots and the ground crew for a successful demo!

Coordination is the backbone of any successful rescue mission. During today’s Great Miami Riverway Summit, our ERS Unit demonstrated the precision required for multi-vessel water rescues.

The drone footage highlights approach maneuvers used by our rescue boats to stabilize a victim in open water.

Always training, always ready. 🌊

Last week, the Butler County Sheriff’s Office Emergency Response Services (ERS) Unit hit the river for an intensive 2-day Swift Water Rescue refresher.

When it comes to water emergencies, seconds count. Our crews spent hours in the water perfecting aggressive swimming techniques, shore-based rope rescues, and in-water team formations. Just as importantly, we practiced the continuous communication and shore support required to keep both the victims and our rescuers safe.

We even had a scaly local resident pop up to supervise the drills! 🐍

Proud of this team for putting in the hard work. Stay safe around the water this spring! Butler County Sheriff's Office
