Interfaith Caregivers of Greater Mercer County

Interfaith Caregivers of Greater Mercer County Interfaith Caregivers of Greater Mercer County is dedicated to promoting the independence, dignity, and wellness of older adults and adults with disabilities.

We are a coalition of over 25 interdenominational member congregations with over 350 dedicated volunteers who cheerfully provide free services — such as transportation to doctors’ offices, grocery shopping, friendly visiting, respite care, light housekeeping, telephone reassurance, occasional meal preparation, indoor/outdoor chores, minor home repairs and other non-medical help — that enable care

receivers to remain in their homes. Our free services are offered without proselytization and without regard to race, religion, color, income or national origin.

June is Alzheimer’s & Brain Awareness Month 💜

Did you know healthy lifestyle habits may help reduce the risk of cognitive decline?

The Alzheimer's Association recommends:
👟 Staying physically active
🥗 Eating balanced meals
💤 Prioritizing sleep
💬 Staying socially connected
🧠 Keeping your mind engaged

At Interfaith, we see every day how connection, movement, and community support contribute to healthier aging and improved well-being.

This month, challenge yourself to support your brain health by taking a walk, calling a friend, learning something new, or checking in on an older neighbor. Small actions today can help build healthier, more connected communities tomorrow.

Today, we honor the brave souls who selflessly sacrificed for our freedom. Their courage and dedication remind us of the true cost of liberty. Let us reflect with gratitude and hold their memory close to our hearts. 🇺🇸

Today is Good Neighbor Day, which feels especially fitting for us because “Neighbors Helping Neighbors” is more than the name of our volunteer program… it’s what we do every day!

In honor of Good Neighbor Day, we invite you to commit one simple act of kindness today:
✅Check in on an older neighbor
✅Pick up groceries for someone in need
✅Make a friendly phone call or visit
✅Volunteer your time in the community

Small moments of care can have a lasting impact — and that’s what neighbors do. Learn more about ways you can help a neighbor in need by visiting icgmc.org/neighbors-helping-neighbors

May is Osteoporosis Awareness & Prevention Month!

This year’s message from the Bone Health and Osteoporosis Foundation (BHOF) is “Building Better Bones Together”, a reminder that bone health isn’t just individual, it’s something we strengthen through movement, education, and community support.

Through our Project Healthy Bones program, participants are doing just that—building strength, improving balance, and staying active together so they can live confidently and independently for longer.

May the 4th be with you!
You don’t need to be a Jedi to make a difference, just someone who cares.

Shoutout to Senator Andy Kim, who reminded us during his visit earlier this year that even Star Wars fans know the importance of fighting for good in their communities.

May is Older Americans Month!

This year’s theme, Champion Your Health, reminds us that staying healthy isn’t something anyone should have to do alone.

Care looks like a ride to a doctor’s appointment.
It looks like making sure someone gets the support they need to stay well.

At Interfaith Caregivers, our volunteers help remove barriers to care so older adults can focus on what matters most: their health, independence, and quality of life.

💚Ready to make a difference? Become a volunteer today: icgmc.org/volunteer

Help a neighbor get to an appointment, share a conversation, or simply show up when it matters most.
