Vent-Enter-Search (VES) is a specialized fireground tactic used to quickly locate and remove victims from areas most at risk during a structure fire. Over the last two weeks, our members trained on proper VES techniques, emphasizing coordination, communication, and firefighter safety while conducting rapid searches in challenging conditions. This training was conducted on the site of the former Mercer Marine utilizing theatrical smoke to simulate real life conditions. Training like this helps ensure we are prepared when seconds matter most.

Attention Residents!

Don’t be alarmed. Later this evening, a flag retirement ceremony will be held at Veterans Park (South Entrance), causing smoke to be seen and smelled. This is a controlled event with emergency services on site. Please avoid calling 9-1-1 to report smoke from the ceremony.

Memorial Day weekend is the unofficial kickoff to grilling season. Before you throw those burgers and dogs on, make sure your BBQ game is safe as it is delicious! 🍔🌭

Check out these pro-tips for a fire-safe feast:
-Propane and charcoal grills should only be used outdoors and far away from your home, deck railings, and any overhanging branches.
-Always make sure your gas grill lid is open before lighting it
-To avoid any accidents, keep children and pets at least 3 feet away from the grill while it is in use
- Regular cleaning is important! It prevents grease or fat buildup from becoming a fire hazard.
-NEVER leave your grill unattended.

Let's honor the holiday by keeping our friends, family, and eyebrows safe!

With temperatures climbing, the risk of fire and heat-related illness goes up, too. We have put together a quick guide to help you protect your home and your health during this heat wave.

Check out these essential tips to keep the "heat" where it belongs:
Outdoor Safety
Safe Cooking: Keep a 3-foot safety zone around grills and fire pits.
Dispose Responsibly: Always use an ashtray and ensure ci******es are 100% extinguished.
Clear the Area: Remove dry vegetation and debris from around your home’s perimeter.

Indoor Safety
Electrical Check: Don't overload outlets with fans or AC units. Check for frayed cords!
Cool Tech: Keep electronics out of direct sunlight to prevent overheating.
Be Ready: Take a moment to test your smoke alarms and inspect your fire extinguisher.

Take Care of Yourself & Others
Hydrate: Drink plenty of fluids even if you aren't thirsty.
Know the Signs: Watch out for dizziness, nausea, or confusion—these are signs of heat illness.
Check-In: Look after elderly neighbors, young children, and those with health conditions.

Let’s work together to keep our community safe. Share this post to spread the word! 🌡️🔥🚒

🚒 Training Day in Hamilton!

Last week our crews put our Tractor Drawn Aerial (TDA) through its paces with hands-on training at the station. This apparatus gives us incredible maneuverability and reach, allowing us to access tight areas and operate efficiently during emergency responses.

Continued training ensures that our team stays sharp, prepared, and ready to serve our community whenever we're needed.
