Last weekend was one to remember. I am immensely honored to accept the Theodore M. Berry award last Saturday at the NAACP Freedom Fund Gala. The Theodore M Berry Award was established in 1995 to recognize outstanding achievement in the political arena and in service to the community.

Ted Berry was Hamilton County’s first African- American Assistant Prosecutor, and Cincinnati’s first African American Mayor.

Thank you to the for this incredible recognition. I approach every day with a profound sense of gratitude for the opportunity to serve in this role.

This is especially meaningful for a few reasons. First because of the impact Mr. Berry had on the Greater Cincinnati community as a public servant and being recognized with his legacy of political leadership and service is humbling. Next, my mentor Mayor Charles Johnson received this same award just a few years ago and it’s an awesome feeling to be held in the same respect. And finally, because I received this award one day after my 35th birthday!

This was an awesome way to bring in another year. I am truly grateful for this recognition and will continue striving to be obedient, lead by faith, and model servant leadership for our beloved community.

I am pleased to announce that I have been accepted to participate in the Leaders USA 2025-2026 program!

For the next six months I will be in a cohort of 101 leaders from across the nation in various sectors and disciplines all committed to driving change throughout our communities.

I am immensely grateful for the opportunity to be a part of this global community of leaders. The Obama Foundation’s ‘Hope to Action’ curriculum focuses on values-based leadership and deeply resonates with my own core beliefs.

Those of you who’ve followed my journey for a while know I always approached this work with the principles of servant leadership as a guide. This is a chance to expand my network with like-minded peers, reflect on my leadership values, and refine my skills while learning from the brightest minds in the country.

I’m eager to take the lessons learned in this program and from other leaders back to our community and continue working towards a more just and equitable future for everyone! Thank you to everyone who continues to follow and support our work and my personal leadership journey.

🚨 Major Development Alert 🚨

The old Forest Fair Mall Property is slated for demolition!

Last month, City Council unanimously voted to approve the rezoning of 55 acres of the mall property for a new development.

Hillwood Investment Properties, a Texas-based company, has a contract to purchase 55 acres from the malls current owner World Properties Inc. and build a new facility for The Hillman Group, one of the nation’s largest hardware distributors in the U.S., Canada and Mexico. Hillman Group is the city’s largest employer and brings in about $1.5 Billion in revenue annually.

The proposed 715,736-square-foot multipurpose facility includes a two-story office corporate headquarters for the Hillman Group consolidating several company operations over time under one roof bringing 700+ jobs.

Total project cost is estimated to be over $100 Million making this a historic investment and one of the largest in city history.

A corporate headquarters at a main entryway into our city is a tremendous victory for the city and puts an end to a vacant and blighted property bringing long term stability to the tax base.

With the mall down the site is put into a development ready condition and opens the front 20+ acres for new potential uses including restaurants, entertainment, and retail development. More news to come!

Simply grateful! Another successful event in the books! The weather was perfect, the park was packed with people, and the music was a vibe!

Thank you to everyone who attended to make last Saturday such a fantastic evening.

Special thank you to all food trucks and vendors who attended this year. Thank you to our media partners for capturing these awesome moments.

And of course a truly heartfelt thank you to all of the city staff who make this event happen. This goes out to everyone who came early to set up, coordinated parking, and stayed late to clean up afterwards. This takes months of planning and hundreds of hours of manpower.

Truly appreciate all that our staff does to plan and execute this one of a kind experience! The magic of this event does not happen without you planning it all!

We will return next year for a huge milestone, the 25th anniversary! Thank you to all the residents for making this the largest and longest running jazz event in the region. I’m looking forward to seeing everyone come out next year to make our 25th anniversary even bigger!

We had an awesome time at the Black Men’s Wellness Day last Saturday! Thank you to all of our vendors and sponsors. Also thank you to everyone who showed up despite the early morning fog.

Special thanks to the African American Male Wellness Agency. The work of this organization is critical for our lives and our families. It’s important to know your numbers and take charge of your health.

It was truly an honor to serve as honorary chair for this year’s event. I look forward to partnering again in the future.

Today Hamilton County Government has opened its newest facility in Forest Park, Ohio designed to improve services and emergency response times throughout the county.

The new Forest Park satellite office is designed to bring county resources from downtown closer to surrounding communities. The office will house several agencies including Job and Family Services (JFS), 513 Relief Bus, and Emergency Management and Homeland Security Agency (EMA).

JFS will offer direct services to residents during work hours and EMA services will house emergency vehicles and equipment including the 513 Relief Bus. The facility is designed for rapid deployment of emergency services and is part of Hamilton County’s broader strategy to improve coordination and access across departments. Several other partner agencies will also utilize the space.

This facility is a major resource for communities in the northern part of the county to access critical resources and support improving response times and collaboration between agencies. Now is the time for government to work on behalf of people by increasing resources and services that improve lives. We welcome this incredible addition to the heart of our community.

The Boys and Girls Club is officially coming to Forest Park!

Last month the City partnered with the Winton Woods School Board to bring a Boys and Girls Club chapter to Winton Woods Middle School Students and is targeted specifically for 7-8 grade. 🏫

The program is scheduled to begin in the 2025-2026 school year. It will take place after school from 2:30 PM - 6 PM | M-F at Winton Woods Middle School 1231 W Kemper Road Forest Park, OH 45240.

This is yet another example of the partnership the city has with our local school district. It is an example of the commitment our city is making to ensure our students have safe, fun and comprehensive after school activities and educational programming options to enjoy.

The programs offered at the Boys and Girls Club will be a welcome addition to the many recreational options we have throughout our parks.

MetroNow! is officially running in Forest Park!

We had the pleasure of participating in the ribbon cutting ceremony to launch the latest zone Forest Park/Pleasant Run.

MetroNow! is Metro’s new on-demand transit service. For $2 per ride, residents can book rides within zones with an app.

This increases mobility for residents without a personal vehicle and areas with limited public transportation and it is more affordable than rideshare apps. We want to thank for their partnership to expand this service to our area.

🚨 A new development is coming to Forest Park! 🚨

The city is working to bring more housing for families in the community with homes available as early as this fall. 🏠

New townhomes from Cristo Homes are finally beginning construction along Waycross and Sharon Roads on the former swim club and Cameron Park elementary sites. The city acquired the property from the school board back in 2018 and held it for a future project.

Acquiring this land along with the old pool club site allowed us to build a larger project making the total land area for the site around 15 acres. The developer Cristo Homes will build over 102 market-rate houses on the site including half being townhomes, a housing type we currently lack within city limits. This is one of the largest developments in the cities history!

🏡 Townhomes will feature 3 and 4 bedrooms with 2.5 to 3.5 bathrooms, one and two-car garages - and included 9-foot ceilings. Homes in this community will receive a 100%, 15-year property tax abatement. This project aims to spur new investment onto this side of town attracting more young families to the area.

This has been a long time in the making and I’m grateful to be serving in this role bringing investment and growth to the city.

It is an exciting time in Forest Park! Our community is experiencing a period of rapid growth and expansion. Believe me when I say there is so much more in store ‼️

If you or anyone you know are in the market searching for a modern stylish home join the waitlist. Step into your families next chapter with a beautiful townhome in Forest Park!

Today February 27th is officially Aharon Brown Day in Hamilton County, OH! I’m truly thankful to the county commissioners for this recognition.

“Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?” And I said, “Here am I. Send me!”” Isaiah‬ ‭6‬:‭8‬ ‭

First let me just say that I am honored and grateful for the proclamation and I give all glory and praises to the Lord.

I’ve always strived to set an example of servant leadership for my son and to the community as was modeled for me. Service at its core is about love for one another and it’s why I have chosen to do the work of building community with others.

I don’t always stop to recognize or celebrate accomplishments so I’ll will do that now and accept this honor. If I could impart any wisdom it’s to walk in faith and keep moving forward and in time your work will speak for itself. I encourage you to join me in celebrating this holiday by taking the rest of the work day off 🤣

October/November Dump

The past few months have been full of highlights and historic firsts!

The Harvest Festival saw over 1500 people in attendance another record year and its largest turnout ever. Several community vendors volunteered their time. We always appreciate their support.

And in another first, the city was featured in an installation at thanks to the awesome work of Black Art Speaks and a local artist and FP resident.

Grateful to .art.speaks for making this connection and highlighting the beauty and brilliance of our city. It was great seeing our city highlighted with the other communities featured. This is only the first of many projects we have in store. It’s a blessing to be able to serve this community and region I love.
