Thanks to our members who attended the Point of Distribution Training (POD) that took place on Thursday at the Connecticut Department of Transportation Center in Newington. This was a full 8 hours of training and practical operations.

Even though our Hamden CERT Members supported over 30 Emergency Food Distributions during the COVID-19 Pandemic, (March 2020 through June of 2022) there is always something more to learn as we continue to attend trainings and provide any needed services to our community.

Registration is now open for our next class starting on September 10th! Join us for this free 8- week class that will teach you all the skills necessary to keep yourself, your family, and neighbors safe during any emergency situation.
Topics include basic disaster response skills such as fire safety, light search & rescue, team organization, basic first aid, and disaster medical operations.
Using the 20 hours of training learned in the classroom and during exercises, FEMA-certified CERT members can assist others in their neighborhood or workplace following an event when professional responders are not immediately available to help.

We were honored to participate in a fund raising event sponsored by the Wallingford Volunteer Firefighters of Company 8 for one of their previous members who is now a Hamden Firefighter, whose wife is battling some serious health issues. It was a fantastic job by the Company 8 members, a great group from Wallingford CERT, along with friends & family who made it such a rewarding & heartfelt event honoring our Brother Firefighter and his family during this difficult time. 🙏🏼

A special “Thank you” to the Wallingford CERT Members who performed above & beyond working nonstop for over 4 hours, handling every task without ever taking a break! Chief Buck, Director Guercia & Wallingford CERT Manager Mike Granoth can be very proud of these dedicated, civic-minded individuals. We made sure to let them know that our Hamden Team will always be there for any need since there are no boundaries between CERT Members!
