The traffic control signal at the intersection of Wh**ey Ave and Buell Street was disabled this afternoon and will remain out of service the next one to two days. The cabinet and controller must be completely rebuilt. Expect delays at this intersection. We’re running out of spare parts folks! Please slow down and drive with caution as you get out for all this summer like weather! Don’t forget a disabled traffic control signal is to be treated as an all way stop!

UPDATE 3/18/2026 10:35AM
The signal was restored this morning shortly after 10am. Please continue to use caution and drive safely near our Town's highschool. Thank you!

Please be advised there is an issue with the traffic signal at the intersection of RT 15 southbound ramps and Dixwell Ave (Rt 10). The signal is not functional and is expected to be out of service for at least three days. Please allow more time to travel in your morning commute, particularly if you are coming from South of RT 15. Please be patient and safe.

Please remember that when a signal is not functional it is by state law treated as an all way stop (CT Gen Stat § 14- “299b.” (2024))

An all-way stop requires every vehicle at an intersection to come to a complete stop behind the white line or crosswalk. The first vehicle to arrive and stop has the right-of-way to proceed first. If vehicles arrive simultaneously, the vehicle on the right goes first; if opposite, straight traffic goes before turning traffic.
