The Hamburg High School EMT Program has been a true pillar of our emergency services community for many years.

Of our current active membership, 27 members began their journey by taking the EMT program at Hamburg High School. Without this program, many of these individuals may never have become EMTs or pursued a future in emergency services.

This program is also available to students in the Frontier Central Schools as a senior-year elective, providing an incredible opportunity for local students to gain valuable medical training, serve their community, and potentially discover a lifelong passion for emergency services.

If you know a student in the Hamburg or Frontier School District, encourage them to consider taking the EMT program during their senior year. You never know where that first step might lead.

As the Erie County Fair gets underway, we’re asking everyone to help us keep our community safe during these “12 Best Days of Summer.”

With increased traffic, pedestrians, visitors, and emergency activity throughout the area, please slow down, stay alert, and watch for emergency vehicles and first responders. Remember that emergencies don’t take a break for the fair—our firefighters, EMS providers, law enforcement, and other first responders continue to answer calls both inside and outside the fairgrounds.

Earlier this week our Junior Firefighters took advantage of the summer weather by working with our STAR Team (ATV & Off-road Rescue) and EMS to search for and extricate a patient from the woods.

This past Monday our Junior Firefighters were joined by Boston, Volunteer Fire Dept. - NY Juniors and trained on nozzle accuracy by competing in water ball. After water ball, the Juniors then got to train on Hamburg 6’s aerial ladder. Thanks to Boston’s Juniors for coming out for a great evening of training!

A reminder that although it has rained recently we are still in a burn ban. With the higher winds and low humidity today, there is an elevated risk of brush fires.

The annual statewide BURN BAN is in effect now through May 14.

The combination of dry fine fuels, wind gusts and low humidity values will contribute to an elevated risk this afternoon. Use caution if handling ignition sources, machinery or matches. Properly extinguish and dispose of cigarette butts.
