Birdville ISD Social Media Rules of Engagement

Birdville ISD maintains a social media presence (e.g., Facebook, blog sites) for the benefit of the district community, provided by the Birdville ISD Communications Department. We will update these sites periodically to share important information about BISD and the achievements of the students and staff, as well as other relevant district community

information. BISD site administrators monitor the posting of comments and other information on the District’s websites and social media accounts, and have the ultimate discretion to determine whether a posting is appropriate or inappropriate. The intent of this policy is to protect the privacy and rights of BISD staff and students, and to ensure that visitors to the sites are not subjected to inappropriate or offensive content. Site administrators will review all postings to make sure they do not violate these rules, the District’s Acceptable Use of the District’s Electronic Communications Systems policy, and other BISD policies and rules. A post will be immediately removed if:
•The post threatens physical violence or is obscene, vulgar, or sexually explicit;
•The post endorses actions that endanger the health or safety of students or others;
•The post promotes illegal use of drugs, alcohol, or other controlled substances;
•The post contains untrue and potentially harmful statements about a person, otherwise identifies a specific person in a defamatory, abusive, or negative way, or violates a person’s privacy;
•The post itself violates the law or encourages others to do so or advocates imminent lawless or disruptive action and is likely to incite or produce such action;
•The post contains hate speech or similar language that offensively attacks any group (e.g., racist, sexist, homophobic) or contains content aimed at creating hostility and violence;
•The post violates the intellectual property rights of another person (e.g., do not post all or part of a copyrighted work without the permission of the owner; do not cut and paste images or logos from the Internet that may be protected by copyright or trademark rights);
•The post is an advertisement for good/services or is “spam,” i.e., repeatedly posting the same comment(s) for the purpose of advertising/promoting a service or product (if you wouldn’t want to receive it yourself don’t post it);
•There is reasonable cause to believe that posting the information will result in material and substantial disruption or interference with school activities or the rights of others. BISD is not responsible for the content posted on these sites by site visitors, and does not endorse any content posted by site visitors. The site administrators reserve the right to remove any posts at any time, for any reason … but we hope that won’t ever be necessary. If you have a comment or would like to report an inappropriate comment for review, email [email protected]. These Rules are supported by BISD Board Policies GKDA (Local) and GKB (Local).

Hey Birdville ISD parents — send them back to us! 😃

The sun is shining, temperatures are rising, and road conditions continue to improve across our community. ☀️After careful consideration of safety and ongoing monitoring of conditions throughout our community, Birdville ISD will return to school tomorrow, Thursday, January 29 on normal schedules, and we look forward to seeing you! Buses will run regularly scheduled routes and our cafeterias will be ready with prepared breakfast and lunch options.

Birdville ISD schools and district offices will remain closed on Wednesday, January 28, due to ongoing winter weather and potentially hazardous road conditions.

We will continue to monitor conditions with the hope of quick improvement once the sun comes out and temperatures settle above freezing midday on Wednesday. Meanwhile, our maintenance and custodial crews continue to monitor and prepare our buildings to ensure our facilities are ready for students and staff to return on Thursday, January 29.

We look forward to welcoming you back on Thursday, and we thank you for your continued support and understanding as we navigate these weather conditions together.

❄️🚨Birdville ISD schools and district offices will remain CLOSED on TUESDAY, JANUARY 27, due to ongoing winter weather, potentially hazardous road conditions, and extreme cold temperatures. 🚨❄️

While we are expecting (and looking forward to) sunshine on Monday, the latest guidance from the National Weather Service and our local emergency operations personnel indicates that sunshine will not be enough to melt the icy conditions and allow us to return to school on Tuesday morning. The amount of freezing precipitation our area has received is too significant to fully melt without several hours of sustained sunshine and above-freezing temperatures. Current forecasts do not predict temperatures to rise above freezing until Tuesday afternoon at the earliest. This means roads, especially neighborhood and side roads, and walkways may not be clear, and temperatures and windchills may not be safe for students who walk/bike to school or wait at bus stops.

We will continue to monitor conditions with the hope of quick improvement once temperatures settle above freezing. Meanwhile, our maintenance and custodial crews continue to monitor our buildings to ensure our facilities are ready for students and staff to return on Wednesday, January 28.

We look forward to welcoming you back on Wednesday, and we thank you for your continued support and understanding as we navigate these weather conditions together. Please stay safe and warm. ☃️

🚨🚨Birdville ISD schools and district offices will be CLOSED on MONDAY, JANUARY 26, due to inclement winter weather. 🚨🚨

At this time, we are planning for classes to resume on Tuesday, January 27. BISD continues to actively monitor weather conditions in coordination with local emergency management agencies, and any updates regarding school on Tuesday will be provided to you directly via email, text, phone call, on the BISD website and on social media.

❄️✨ **Flakes was a huge success!** ✨❄️

Our 2nd and 3rd graders did an amazing job at Thursday night’s *Flakes* program! Their hard work, confidence, and teamwork truly shined on stage, and we are so proud of them.

A big shout-out to Mrs. Rogers, Ms. Warren, and Mr. Armstrong for putting together such a wonderful program and guiding our students every step of the way.

⭐ Special thanks to Mrs. Kaylor for working with students to create the incredible set—it added so much magic to the performance!

Thank you to everyone who helped make the night so special and to our families for coming out to support our students!
