On September 22nd, 9 schools across the northern area sent their 4th grade classes to NW Waterfest in Roseau MN. Waterfest is a day full of learning about water and our role in conserving it through education and games! This year there was over 280 4th graders that attended, including the 4th grade classes from Lancaster, Kittson Central, and Tri-County. They spent all day going through stations like fish painting, casting practice, watershed education, the water cycle, ground water education, flooding, spring water, and learning about aquatic invasive species. Each of these stations bring a different message to the kids to help them learn about all the different parts that go into protecting and conserving the states water. Volunteers for the day came from many different counties including Jamie Osowski, Jeremy Benson, and Sky Dahl from Kittson SWCD. The day went very well and all in attendance had a great time!
