11,490 times. In five school days.

Thatโ€™s how many times vehicles were recorded traveling more than 10 MPH over the speed limit in the school zones studied.

So, weโ€™re taking action.

๐Ÿ“ธ School Zone Speed Safety Cameras are being implemented in five designated school-zone areas.

โš ๏ธ Sept. 14: 30-day warning period begins

๐Ÿ“ฌ Warning notices. No fine during the warning period.

๐Ÿ“ธ Oct. 14: Enforcement begins

๐Ÿ“ฌ Notices of Violation. $100 fine.

Weโ€™re telling you now because this shouldnโ€™t be a surprise. The goal is safer driving around our schools.

Swipe โžก๏ธ to see what drivers need to know.

Slow down. Put the phone down. Watch for children. Every school zone. Every time.

๐Ÿ“ธ COMING SOON TO A SCHOOL ZONE NEAR YOU

Hallandale Beach is introducing School Zone Speed Safety Cameras, and we want you to know whatโ€™s coming before they go into effect.

Why? Because this program isnโ€™t about catching drivers by surprise. Itโ€™s about changing driving behavior where our children walk, bike, cross the street, and travel to and from school every day.

Over the next several weeks, weโ€™ll break it all down: where the cameras are located, how they work, when they operate, and what drivers need to know.

The easiest way to prepare starts now:

Slow down. Put the phone down. Pay attention.

Every school zone. Every time. ๐Ÿ’™

๐Ÿ“… Warning Period Begins September 14

08/28/2026

38% is too many.

In a AAA survey, 38% of Floridians surveyed admitted to speeding in an active school zone. Another 31% admitted to using a handheld phone while driving through one.

Those numbers matter because school zones are filled with children walking, biking, getting on and off buses, and crossing streets.

Hallandale Beach is introducing School Zone Speed Safety Cameras as another tool to encourage safer driving where it matters most.

But a camera doesnโ€™t make a school zone safe.

Drivers do.

Slow down. Put the phone down. Pay attention.

Every school zone. Every time.

๐Ÿ’™ Community Kindness in Action ๐Ÿงธ

Sometimes, the smallest gesture can bring the greatest comfort.

We want to extend a heartfelt thank you to a generous Hallandale Beach resident who donated these beautiful, custom-handmade Trauma Bears to the Hallandale Beach Police Department.

Our officers will carry these special bears to give to children they encounter during frightening, stressful, or difficult situations. A Trauma Bear may seem simple, but for a child facing an uncertain moment, it can provide comfort, reassurance, and a sense of security when they need it most.

This thoughtful resident asked for nothing in return, only that these bears be placed in the hands of children who may need a little extra comfort, reassurance, and a reason to smile during a traumatic or difficult situation.

๐Ÿ’› From one residentโ€™s heart to a childโ€™s hands, delivered with care by HBPD.

Thank you for reminding us that public safety is also about compassion, connection, and caring for our communityโ€™s youngest residents.

๐ŸŽ’ FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL: SAFETY STARTS WITH YOU! ๐Ÿšธ 08/10/2026

School is back, Hallandale Beach! As students head back to class, our roads and school zones will be busier. Whether you're driving to work, dropping off a student, or simply traveling through the city, three simple choices can help prevent a tragedy.

๐Ÿšธ SLOW DOWN & STAY ALERT
Obey school-zone speed limits, watch crosswalks, and be prepared for children entering or crossing the roadway.

๐ŸšŒ STOP FOR SCHOOL BUSES
Pay attention to flashing lights and extended stop arms. Stop when required by law and never pass a school bus when prohibited.

๐Ÿ“ต PUT THE PHONE DOWN
Keep your eyes on the road. No text, notification, or call is worth risking a child's life.

SLOW DOWN. STOP FOR BUSES. PUT THE PHONE DOWN.

๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’› THREE SIMPLE CHOICES. ONE IMPORTANT GOAL. GET EVERY CHILD HOME SAFELY.

Please give yourself extra travel time, expect delays around our schools, and help us make the first day back safe.

Have a safe and successful school year, Hallandale Beach!

๐Ÿšจ NEIGHBOR UPDATE | AFTERNOON THUNDERSTORMS & FLOODING ๐ŸŒง๏ธ08/03/2026

South Florida afternoons often bring fast-moving thunderstorms. Don't let the sunshine fool you. Storms can develop quickly, bringing heavy rain, frequent lightning, strong wind gusts, and localized street flooding in just minutes.

โš ๏ธ Current Update:
Several streets throughout Hallandale Beach are experiencing flooding due to this afternoon's heavy rainfall. Our stormwater pump stations are operating, and City Stormwater crews are actively monitoring conditions and responding where needed. As rainfall decreases, water levels are expected to recede. We will continue to provide updates as conditions change.

Please use extra caution this afternoon:

๐Ÿš— Slow down and increase your following distance while driving.
๐ŸŒŠ Never drive through flooded roadways. Turn Around, Don't Drown.
โ›ˆ๏ธ If you hear thunder, move indoors immediately. Lightning can strike miles from a storm.
๐ŸŒด Secure loose outdoor items that could become airborne in strong winds.
๐Ÿ“ฑ Keep your phone charged and monitor local weather updates.

A few extra minutes of caution can make all the difference. Thank you for helping keep our community safe.
