During the 2026 March Primary, Unaffiliated voters are allowed to participate in the Democratic or Republican primary. Those voters must inform the precinct official of their primary choice.

Unaffiliated voters are strongly encouraged to view the sample ballots posted in order to decide which ballot to choose. Once the ballot has been issued to the voter, the ballot cannot be returned for a different party.

If you are having difficulties while trying to vote, please ask to speak with the Chief Judge. The Chief Judge will assist you. If your situation is not resolved, please have someone contact the Board of Elections Office before leaving the voting location.

Remember to check out the schedule before voting!

When voting in person, remember to take your photo ID with you to show the precinct officials.

Not registered, you can register and vote same day during the early voting period. You will need a document to show your name and address on it.

Do not have ID, no worries! You can come to the BOE to get a free photo ID before voting. If you can’t come, you can vote a provisional ballot indicating you do not have ID or can’t get one.

Just note, local BOE offices will not be allowed to produce an ID beginning at 3:00 pm on Saturday, Feb 28.

The NC State Board of Elections mailed out letters to voters whose name appeared on the voter registration repair list. The list comes from a complaint that was filed in 2024 indicating that voters were improperly registered due to not providing either their NCDMV Number OR the last four of their social.

Recent letters that were mailed went to voters who were registered BEFORE the law changed requiring voters to provide their ID at the time of registering to vote.

If you received a letter, please complete it and send to the local board of elections office. Contact information is provided in the letter. Once letters have been recieved and processed, your name will be removed from the list and you should not recieve additional letters.

To check and see if your name is listed, you can check here https://dl.ncsbe.gov/RegistrationRepair/index.html.

If you have completed the form and recently submitted, please allow a few days for processing and updating.

If you have any questions, please contact the elections office.
