**Suspect wanted for the murder of 2 Virginia DOT workers taken into custody**
On September 9, 2026, agents with the Halifax Regional Drug and Gang Task Force were contacted by the Scotland Neck Police Department and informed that Dennikia Boyce, who was wanted in connection with a double homicide in Chesterfield County, Virginia, was reportedly in the Scotland Neck area.
In the early morning hours of September 10, 2026, agents with the Halifax Regional Drug and Gang Task Force, Scotland Neck Police Department, and members of the United States Marshals Service coordinated efforts to locate and take Boyce into custody.
At approximately 10:00 a.m. on September 10, 2026, Boyce was located at a residence on House Avenue inside the Town of Scotland Neck. She was taken into custody without incident.
Agents with the Halifax Regional Drug and Gang Task Force took custody of Boyce and transported her to the Halifax County Magistrate’s Office, where a fugitive order was obtained. Boyce was subsequently placed in the Halifax County Detention Center without bond. She is scheduled to appear in court on September 22, 2026.
The trust, partnership, and strong working relationship between the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office, the Scotland Neck Police Department, and the United States Marshals Service played a critical role in safely taking this fugitive into custody.
We look forward to continuing to work alongside our law-enforcement partners to bring justice to the victims and their families.
