The Hales Corners Fire Department would like to wish Fire Chief Pete Jaskulski a happy, healthy, and well-deserved retirement.

Chief Jaskulski began his career with the Hales Corners Fire Department 45 years ago, dedicating his life to serving this community with pride and commitment.

In 2019, Pete stepped into the role of Fire Chief in an interim capacity—but after seeing the impact he could make, he chose to continue leading the department forward. Under his leadership, the department has grown stronger, more progressive, and better equipped to serve our residents.

His leadership, dedication to training, ability to resolve conflict, and overall management have set a standard that will not be forgotten.

While it’s impossible to list all of his accomplishments, the Hales Corners Fire Department and the Village of Hales Corners are incredibly grateful for his decades of service and lasting contributions to this community.

Chief Jaskulski, you will be greatly missed. Congratulations on your retirement.

🚒 Why Do You See Firefighters at the Grocery Store?

It’s a question we hear from time to time.

Firefighters work 24-hour shifts, which means the fire station becomes their workplace, kitchen, and home for the day. Because of that, crews cook their meals together at the station — and that means making a grocery run during the shift.

Here’s something many people don’t realize:

Firefighters pay for their own meals.
❌ Tax dollars do not pay for firefighters’ food.

If the alarm sounds while we’re shopping, cooking, or even sitting down to eat, everything gets left behind and the crew responds immediately. It’s not unusual for firefighters to come back to a cold dinner… or sometimes one that spent a little too long on the stove.

So if you see firefighters at the grocery store, feel free to say hello! We always appreciate the support from our community.

And remember — even while picking up groceries, we’re always ready to respond when someone calls for help. 🚒
