***THE MONTH COMES TO AN END,
THE AWARENESS IS YEAR-ROUND***

Mental Health Awareness Month ends today. This is a reminder those that struggle with mental health crisis and issues do not measure it by a month, nor should the awareness. It is a year-round struggle for many and our awareness needs to measure just as much, not just for a month.

We all have a lot going on, and a lot of stressors to accompany our so-called daily grind. It can become overwhelming, but do not let it consume you, that can be deadly. Mental Illness is real and can seem too much to bear, even when having a subtle episode of depression or any other form of mental health crisis. DO NOT LET YOUR MENTAL HEALTH CONSUME YOU, ASK FOR HELP.

REMEMBER TO KEEP MOVING FORWARD - YOU ARE LOVED AND YOU ARE VALUED!

The last few weeks of the school year finds your City of Hailey Police Department always staying busy with community and school related events, which we enjoy and the community, schools, and kiddos do too. Last week we were stationed along the bike path intersections helping people cross safely and on bike patrol during Bike to School Day, and we made sure the outside of Hailey Elementary stayed safe and secure during Wild West Days for 4th graders from all over our county while also serving ice cream after lunch each day. We also took time off to volunteer at our own child's school field trips and events. Thank you to all of our Hailey schools for continually reaching out to us and having us at your events.

The Idaho Chiefs of Police Association 57th Annual Conference concluded yesterday. Hailey Police Chief Steve England, the current ICOPA President, was honored to have the conference in Sun Valley and show off our beautiful valley.

91 police chiefs and law enforcement executives were in attendance, representing 43 police agencies and 3 sheriff's departments from throughout Idaho. Attendees heard from amazing speakers on mental and physical health awareness in law enforcement leadership roles, as well as being more effective leaders when it comes to departmental culture and artificial intelligence trends. Most importantly, we were able to meet in-person and talk about what we are seeing throughout Idaho and learn from one another to make Idaho the safest place possible to live, work, and recreate.

FYI. We are getting a few calls about this scam going around as well.

Heads up, Idaho 👀

We’re seeing a wave of scam texts pretending to be courts, law enforcement, or the DMV. They may include fake case numbers, threats, and links that aren’t government websites.

Reminder: ITD will never send unexpected texts asking for payment, threatening legal action, or directing you to non-government links. If it doesn’t end in .gov, it’s not from us.

If you get one:
• Don’t click the link
• Don’t share info or pay
• Report it and delete it

Sunday Shoutout to all who came out to the Hope Garden in Hailey last Tuesday to recongonize April as Sexual Assault Awareness Month. Several community leaders, including Hailey Assistant Chief of Police Todd Peck, spoke on the importance of coming together to support those affected by sexual assault and what we as a community can do to hopefully help prevent and recognize such acts. Several in attendance also wore denim to stand against victim-blaming.

Your Hailey Police Department continually works to bring sexual assault predators to justice and values our constant work with other community partners like the Blaine County Sheriff's and Prosecutor's Offices, The Advocates, St. Luke’s CARES, and the Idaho State Police Forensic Lab, as well as several others.

We ask that not just us, but also our community assists in recognizing and supporting those affected by sexual assault not just this month, but year round, because we strengthen our investigations, support, and advocacy when we all work together.
