Don't forget, the annual Household Hazardous Materials Collection Day is Saturday, September 12, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Residents may safely dispose of eligible household hazardous materials at either location:
Edward A. Dufresne Community Center in Luling
St. John Community Center in LaPlace

Residents of St. Charles and St. John the Baptist parishes may use either site, but please make sure to bring an I.D. for proof of residence. Help protect our community and environment by keeping hazardous materials out of household trash!

Crews will be working on the interior lane of the Hale Boggs Bridge, traveling from the Westbank toward the Eastbank, from 8 PM Friday through 2 AM Saturday morning.

The bridge lighting is currently out. Crews will be working during this time to diagnose the issue and make necessary repairs. Motorists are urged to use caution and be alert for workers in the area.

What’s going on along Schexnaydre Lane?

Public Works crews are replacing older galvanized steel with polyethylene (PE) piping.

The new piping is more resistant to corrosion and built to provide a longer-lasting path for water to move through the drainage system.

In observance of Labor Day, all St. Charles Parish Government Buildings will be closed on Monday, September 7. We will reopen on Tuesday, September 8, at our regular operating hours.

River Birch Renewable Energy - St. Charles Parish will collect normal residential trash routes.

UPDATE: The closure will start at 2 PM today through tomorrow morning.

Kinler Street near 920 Kinler Street will be closed Thursday, September 3, beginning at approximately 9 a.m. for sewer system maintenance. While the contractor will work to keep the roadway open, when possible, motorists should expect the potential for no through traffic during the afternoon.

Residents, emergency vehicles and buses will still be able to access Kinler Street from both directions via Hackberry Street and Brooklyn Street.

A major investment is set to transform the Judge Edward Dufresne Parkway corridor, creating a new connection to LA 3127 and opening access to approximately 1,000 acres of privately owned land for future development! Louisiana Economic Development has finalized funding a $10 million FastSites investment to extend Judge Edward Dufresne Parkway through Esperanza Business Park in St. Charles Parish, creating direct access to one of the state’s largest undeveloped tracts.

The approximately $25 million project will include the roadway extension as well as sewer, water, lighting and electrical infrastructure to support new businesses and future development along the corridor. UPDATE: Union Pacific Railroad has advised that both railroad crossings remain closed. There is currently no estimated time for reopening, and the closures could remain in place for an additional five to six hours.

Motorists should continue to avoid the area and use alternate routes.

UPDATE: The Judge Edward Dufresne Parkway railroad crossing has reopened; however, the crossing on Paul Maillard is still closed.

RAILROAD CROSSING CLOSURES-LULING

We just received a notification that the railroad crossings on Paul Maillard (closest to LA 18/River Road) and Judge Edward Dufresne Parkway will be closed for approximately the next hour.
