It was an honor to be a part of the 4th annual Maryland State Police, Hagerstown Barracks shop-with-a-cop event. We were able to take more than 20 county children shopping to our local Walmart and allow them to select gifts for their families. Each child was escorted by a sworn Trooper and was driven to the Walmart on Sharpsburg Pike and allowed to select gifts for their families and friends. Afterwards they were returned to the Halfway Vol Fire Department social hall where volunteers wrapped their gifts while the children enjoyed pictures with Santa, pizza, snacks, and a movie. Due to donations from the local community, the children were able to select toys for themselves as well.

Special Thanks to the Maryland State Police Hagerstown Troopers who volunteered for the event. Walmart Supercenter Hagerstown - Walmart Drive for allowing us to invade your store, Potomac Valley Fire for hosting a toy drive. Residents from Southern Washington County for their generous donations of toys and Lou Baker for organizing and delivering a vehicle full of gifts for the children.

We look forward to continuing this tradition for years to come.
