Mayor, Councilmembers to Lay Wreaths on Memorial Day
Mayor William McIntire and Councilmembers Erika Bell and Sean Flaherty will be observing the Memorial Day holiday and paying tribute to the sacrifices made by members of our armed forces and their families on Monday afternoon.
The commemoration will begin with their participation in Morris Frock American Legion Post 42’s annual Memorial Day program and wreath-laying ceremony in front of the Washington County Circuit Courthouse at the corner of Summit Avenue and West Washington Street at 1pm. Mayor McIntire will offer welcoming remarks before being joined by the Councilmembers to lay a wreath on behalf of the administration.
Following the ceremony, they will lay wreaths along Memorial Boulevard at the memorial monument near the entrance to Rose Hill Cemetery, the Vietnam War Veterans Monument on South Walnut Street near City Park, the Medal of Honor Triangle on Jonathan Street, the Korean War Veterans Memorial along Potomac Avenue at the Mealey Parkway traffic island, and at the Bloom Park Spanish-American War Memorial on East North Avenue.
The City of Hagerstown recognizes and appreciates all veterans, their family members, friends, and support networks for the incredible sacrifices made on behalf of our nation on Memorial Day and every day.
