Crews have been busy this evening with several calls. The latest call came in just before midnight, just as units were returning to quarters after a gas detector alarm in Maple Valley Estates. Units are now responding to a vehicle collision in the area of Leitersburg Cinemas involving a rollover with entrapment.
Responding units include E27-3, Qnt27, and DC27 (Kroboth) with staffing of 10 personnel.

This scene is currently active. If you are traveling in the area late tonight, please avoid the area and use caution.

Longmeadow was once again honored to participate in the Flags for Heroes Ceremony held by the Sunrise Rotary at the Long Meadows Rotary Park on Northern Avenue. This is an annual event held every year on Memorial Day weekend. While the weather did not want to cooperate with the rain, it was still a great time of community coming together.

This morning, after clearing the box alarm and finishing cleanup, the crew was able to grab a quick nap before a crew of four attended Career Day at Paramount Elementary School. We enjoyed sharing “The Best Job in the World” with the students and reminding them that if they stick with their studies, they too could do this job one day!
Just before finishing our visit, it was cut a little short as the Engine and Ladder were dispatched for a possible house fire on the west side of Greencastle. Units arrived to find a controlled burn, and Station 27 units were released.
Also, a quick note — over the last few weeks, our apparatus have been undergoing yearly service and maintenance. You may have noticed the ladder truck marked “Williamsport” (almost the same color as our 27 units) and the white engine with the red stripe (the county reserve engine). These units are maintained by the county and are available for departments to borrow when equipment is out for service, repairs, etc.
We greatly appreciate having these reserve units available and hope to have our full fleet back next week. We also wanted our community to know that even though the trucks may look a little different right now, it’s still your Station 27 crews responding and serving the community every day. We truly appreciate all the continued support from our community!
Also, if any young folks are interested in giving the firefighter life a try, we have a Cadet Program every Wednesday evening from 6:30 PM–8:30 PM for ages 11–15. Anyone 16 and older can apply for regular membership. If you’d like to learn more about what we do, stop by the station or visit our website for more information and applications!

While most were sleeping, at 3:50 AM Box 27-10 was dispatched for a reported house fire on Loose Lane. Initial arriving units located a small stove fire, which was quickly extinguished.
The incident was held to Co. 27, Hagerstown Fire Department Station 3, and EMS personnel. The State Fire Marshal’s Office was also notified. All remaining units were placed in service, and the scene was cleared within approximately 30 minutes.
