Each week Walking To Wellness presenters continue to amaze me. They share their knowledge, inspiration and encouragement with all of us!

This Wednesday, Carolyn Brooks, a well known community activist and advocate will continue the trend! Carolyn, who serves on HCC Board of Trustees, is also the Chair of Hagerstown Housing Authority Board of Commissioners and Director of Character Counts of Washington County! With all that she manages to walk 5 miles every day!

Join me on at noon at the ARCC on August 17 when Carolyn talks about her fitness journey and discusses apps she uses for motivation and accountability. Hope to see you there!

Hope to see you on Wednesday!

I'm going on a field trip! Prime Time for Women's cultural chef for the month of June, Orsolya Herbein, lives in Conowingo, Maryland so I'm taking "Cultures, Cooking and Connections" on the road! If you don't know where that is don't worry, I had to look it up too!

So I'm headed to Cecil County, in the northeastern corner of the state, to watch, learn and help Orsi make Hungarian Paprikash Krumpli, a traditional stew cooked outside over an open fire!!! As you know, I love good food but even more I treasure any and all opportunities to learn about different cultures...and in my humble opinion, preparing and sharing a meal is the BEST way to do that. Regardless of country of origin, religion, race, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, gender...people need to eat and they find joy in sharing their favorite stories while preparing their favorite recipes.

When we break bread with others, we share a meal. When we share our stories, we break open our hearts and find understanding, compassion and meaningful connections. There's nothing better than doing both at the same time!

Get ready for week two of Walking to Wellness Wednesday! I love to connect with interesting people who inspire me simply by the way they live their lives! That's why I love meeting all of the Walking to Wellness participants and recruiting our Walking to Wellness presenters.

When you join us for Walking to Wellness this week, you, too, will have the chance to meet an incredible woman who is making an amazing difference in our community! Kathy Powderly, Executive Director of the Hagerstown Area Religious Council (HARC) will be this week's W2W presenter and will talk about "walking for a purpose." Learn about HARC's Hike for Hunger and Hope and HARC's Challenge HIke.

You may have seen Kathy out walking. She’s preparing for the HARC Challenge Hike, a 20-mile hike that raises funds to support HARC and Micah's Backpack, a partnership that provides nutritious food to more than 1,000 food-insecure children in Washington County.

Join Prime Time for Women and Kathy Powderly on Wednesday, May 11 at noon at Fairgounds Park! You will get to meet new friends, walk and talk and be inspired all at the same time! Be sure to catch up Kathy and introduce yourself!

Walking to Wellness is made possible by our caring partners:
Meritus Health, Washington County Commission on Aging, Inc. Hagerstown Parks and Recreation, Hub Labels Inc, Hagerstown YMCA, Healthy Washington County, Novo Nordisk Foundation, Kinesthetic solutions.
