ERH Families,
What a great first week of school! It was wonderful to see all of our students back in the building. Our Huskies did a fantastic job listening, learning our routines and procedures, getting acclimated to their classes, and helping us set the tone for a great school year.
We also want to thank our parents and guardians for your support this week. The beginning of a school year takes everyone working together, and we appreciate your partnership as our students settle into their routines.
📵 A Great Start with Personal Devices
One thing we were especially proud to see was no cell phones or personal electronic devices being used throughout the school day. This is not only an ERH expectation, but also a WCPS focus, and our students did an outstanding job following the expectation.
Thank you for reinforcing this at home and helping us create an environment where students can focus on learning, connecting with others, and being present in school.
💻 Chromebooks + ✏️ Learning
Our students also did a great job learning how to navigate our new Chromebook carts and technology routines.
Technology will certainly be an important part of learning at ERH, but it will not be the only tool our students use. You will see a balance of Chromebooks, paper and pencil, discussion, collaboration, reading, writing, and hands-on learning throughout the year.
There is tremendous value in students writing by hand, putting their thoughts on paper, and actively processing what they are learning. Writing helps students organize their thinking, retrieve and connect information, and develop deeper understanding. Sometimes the most powerful learning tool is still a pencil!
We expect all Huskies to take responsibility for the Chromebooks they use in each class. Students should handle devices carefully, follow classroom procedures, and return them properly so they are ready for the next student.
In case you missed it, you can read more about our Chromebook usage and expectations in our BTS Smore: https://app.smore.com/n/5ns4cp
🤝 Who Do I Contact at ERH?
We know that navigating a middle school can sometimes be confusing—especially when you're trying to figure out who to contact about a particular question or concern.
We are sharing our ERH Family-School-Community Partnership Guide, which provides information about who to contact for different needs and questions throughout the school year. We hope this will make it easier for families to connect with the right person and get the support they need.

❤️ Everyday Counts
As we begin the year, we want to continue emphasizing one of our most important priorities: attendance.
Being at school every day isn't just about completing assignments. Every day is an opportunity to learn, build relationships, connect with teachers and friends, practice important skills, and feel like part of our school community.
When students are consistently present, they have more opportunities to experience success academically, socially, and emotionally. Missing school means missing pieces of that experience.
Help your Husky establish a strong routine now. Get to school. Be on time. Be present. Be ready to learn.

Every day. Every minute. Every Husky. 🐾
Thank you again for an outstanding first week and for your continued partnership. We are excited about the year ahead and everything our Huskies will accomplish together!

🚗 ERH Arrival & Dismissal: Help Us Keep Traffic Moving!

Families,
As we begin the 2026–27 school year, we want to share a few important reminders about morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up. Our goal is simple: keep students safe, keep traffic moving, and make arrival and dismissal as smooth as possible for everyone.

🌅 Morning Drop-Off
Our parent drop-off window is 7:05–7:20 a.m.
Please help us by:
Pulling all the way forward to the designated drop-off area before your child exits the vehicle.
Having your child ready to exit so the line can continue moving.
Once your child has exited, please leave the drop-off area so the next vehicles can move forward.
If you arrive before 7:05 a.m., your child may exit the vehicle and wait safely on the front porch until 7:05.
Please do not stop or park in the new numbered parking spaces. These spaces are being assigned to staff and must remain available. If a vehicle is blocking an assigned parking space, we will ask the driver to move.

🌅 Afternoon Pick-Up
Our parent pick-up window is 1:45–2:15 p.m.
The same basic rule applies: please pull all the way forward before your child enters your vehicle. This allows us to load multiple vehicles at once and keeps traffic moving.
Please do not enter or use the bus loop for parent pick-up. Keeping the bus loop clear is critical to safely and efficiently dismissing our students.

🐾 We Need Everyone's Help!
A few extra seconds from each vehicle can create significant delays when multiplied by hundreds of cars. When everyone follows the same procedures, students get where they need to be safely and families are able to get in and out of the parking lot much more efficiently.
We know arrival and dismissal can be hectic, and we appreciate your patience, cooperation, and partnership as we work together to make the process better.
Please pull forward. Please keep the parking spaces clear. Please follow the designated traffic patterns. Most importantly, please help us keep our Huskies safe.
Thank you for helping us make arrival and dismissal at ERH safe, efficient, and smooth for everyone! 🐾
