ERH Families—
We wanted to share a few important updates as we continue moving through the final weeks of the school year.
*8th Grade Social Studies MCAP Testing
Our 8th grade students will take the Social Studies MCAP on Tuesday, May 19 and Wednesday, May 20. We are asking students to continue meeting the same expectations that helped make our ELA and Math testing successful.
We ask that students:
-Arrive to school on time each day of testing
-Bring a fully charged Chromebook each day
-Give their best effort on the assessment
At ERH, we talk often with students about what “doing your best” truly looks like. It means:
-Taking your time and reading carefully
-Thinking through each question before responding
-Using any strategies or supports available to help you think through answers
-Writing thoughtful responses and showing what you know rather than rushing through the assessment
We are incredibly proud of the effort our students have shown during testing season and know that when students try their best, the results will take care of themselves.
*STAR Awards Ceremony – May 21
We are also excited to celebrate many of our incredible students at our STAR Awards Ceremony on Wednesday, May 21 at 7:45 AM. This event recognizes students for their accomplishments, growth, leadership, and positive impact at ERH.
This event is by invitation only, and invited families have already received communication. We are excited to celebrate our ERH STARS and all of their accomplishments!
*Attendance Matters
Daily attendance continues to be one of the most important factors in student success. When students are in school each day, they stay connected to their learning, build strong routines, and avoid falling behind. Thank you for your continued support in making attendance a priority.
*Looking Ahead to End-of-Year Field Trips
As we begin planning for end-of-year field trips, we are excited to share that we are able to pay for all field trips this year as part of our work as a Concentration of Poverty Community School (COP). Through this program, we partner with local organizations to provide additional services and opportunities that support both academic and personal success for our students.
While we may not be able to provide this opportunity every year, we are proud to remove this financial burden from families this year. Please talk with your child about the importance of meeting all academic, attendance, and behavioral requirements in order to be eligible to attend these field trips.
Thank you, as always, for your continued partnership and support of E. Russell Hicks Middle School. We appreciate all you do to help our students be successful!
