Maryland DHS announced today that we are expanding the Benefit Navigators Corps, growing from 15 navigators across four jurisdictions to 40 navigators across 10 jurisdictions statewide.

This year’s navigators are part of the fourth cohort Governor Wes Moore’s flagship Maryland Corps and Service Year Option program. Benefits Navigators help Marylanders connect with vital supports, including:

✅ SNAP
✅ Energy Assistance
✅ Medical Assistance
✅ Temporary Cash Assistance
✅ Earned Income Tax Credit

“Expanding this program advances the Moore-Miller administration’s commitment to ensuring every family can access food and economic assistance during challenging times,” said Acting Secretary Stacy L. Rodgers.

When children enter out-of-home care (foster care), being placed with someone they know and trust can make a meaningful difference. Since Maryland’s kinship care law took effect in 2024 under the Moore-Miller administration, DHS and local departments of social services have been working to increase the number of children placed with kin.

As of July 2026, 35% of youth in out-of-home care are living with kin — an 11% increase since the law took effect.

Finding the right training or employment opportunity just got easier.

DHS has launched a new interactive employment & training mapping tool that helps Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program customers find workforce opportunities by location and industry — including virtual, statewide options — making it easier to find the right fit.

Maryland also now has its largest-ever network of SNAP employment & training partner network, with 46 organizations providing customers with more opportunities to build skills, find employment, and move toward self-sufficiency.
