This week we recognize School Resource Officers — but today we want to give special honor to Andy Jones.
A School Resource Officer is often seen as the person who keeps danger out of the building, handles difficult situations, and makes sure everyone gets home safe. And yes — that matters. In today’s world, protection is a blessing we never take for granted.
But Andy’s role goes far beyond a badge and a radio.
He doesn’t just guard a school…
He invests in a generation.
Every day he stands in hallways where kids carry burdens nobody sees. He listens when they need someone safe to talk to. He encourages the ones who feel invisible. He corrects with patience instead of anger. He shows respect before demanding it. And because of that — students trust him.
Andy isn’t only preventing problems — he’s shaping people.
He is helping young boys learn what a good man looks like.
He is showing young girls what a man of character acts like.
He is helping form future fathers, mothers, leaders, and citizens.
Long after graduation, many won’t remember every lesson from a textbook — but they will remember the officer who cared enough to ask how their day was going… and meant it.
Protection keeps kids safe for the moment.
Presence changes their future.
Andy Jones represents honor, compassion, and steady leadership. He reminds us that a School Resource Officer is not just there for the worst days — but for the everyday moments that quietly shape lives.
Thank you, Andy, for being more than security.
Thank you for being a mentor.
Thank you for being someone our kids can look up to.
Happy School Resource Officers Week — we appreciate you more than words can say.

Hackleburg Police Department Public Safety Statement

The Hackleburg Police Department would like to assure the public that there is no threat to the safety of Hackleburg School or the surrounding area.

It has been brought to our attention that a post circulating on Facebook stated that a 911 call was made involving a suicidal individual and shots fired on Elgin Cochran Road. We would like to clarify the facts.

The Hackleburg Police Department responded to Elgin Cochran Road to assist the Marion County Sheriff’s Department on a reported call of shots fired. At the same time, the Marion County Sheriff’s Department was responding to a separate call involving a suicidal person on Mount Willing Road, south of Guin. Due to the nature of the incidents occurring simultaneously, our department assisted by responding to one of the calls.

At no time was there a threat to Hackleburg School, students, staff, or the area surrounding the school. There is currently no threat in or around the town of Hackleburg.

The Hackleburg Police Department will continue to serve and protect the public and will keep the community informed of any potential threats should they arise.

Thank you.
