It is with deep regret and sadness that the Tri-County Volunteer Fire Company announces the passing of Past Chief Phil Hammel.

Chief Hammel proudly served the Tri-County Volunteer Fire Company and held the position of Chief in 1986 and 1987. His years of service and dedication to the fire company and the community will always be remembered.

Visitation will be held on October 3rd at 11:00 AM at Trinity United Methodist Church in Hackettstown.

Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends.

Rest in Peace, Chief Hammel.

Reopened
Route 57 is closed at Heiser Rd and Penwell. because a tree decided to occupy the entire roadway on 57.

Also, the vehicle blocking the road isn't there for decoration, to test your driving skills, or because someone was bored. It's there because the road is closed. Please dont drive around it.

Use another route.

Walmart is partnering with the Mansfield Township Police Department to help support local families as they prepare for the 2026–2027 school year!

Join us on Sunday, August 2, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Walmart for our "Stuff the Truck" School Supply Drive!

Every donated school supply will go directly to students in the Mansfield Township School District, helping ease the financial burden for families who could use a little extra support this school year.

If you'd like to donate but can't attend the event, please contact Sergeant Ellie Russell at [email protected] to arrange a donation.

Thank you for helping our community come together to ensure every student has the supplies they need for a successful school year. We look forward to seeing you there!

Tonight, members from Tri-County Volunteer Fire Company and Mansfield Township Fire Company No.1 held our monthly extrication drill.

Crews trained on the challenging scenario of removing patients from a vehicle trapped underneath a bus. Members utilized vehicle stabilization, lifting, and cutting techniques to safely access and extricate occupants while working through the unique hazards presented by the incident.

Training like this helps ensure our members remain prepared to respond safely and effectively when called upon by our community. Thanks to the community members that donated their vehicle so we could continue to train. If interested stop by Tuesday nights at 7pm or send us a message on here.

With seeing all the posts on Facebook we realized it was time for an upgrade. We are proud to introduce our brand-new command vehicle: 29-85.
This 2025 Ford F-150 marks a massive step forward for our department, officially replacing our outdated and unreliable 2006 Dodge Durango.

Why is this vehicle so important?
In an emergency, every second counts. Command vehicles allow our officers to get to the scene ahead of the heavy apparatus to:
Size up the incident immediately, Determine exactly what resources are needed, and Coordinate incoming units and mutual aid effectively.

This upgrade is more than just a new truck it’s a vital tool that ensures we can serve our community more reliably and safely than ever before.
