PSA for whom it may concern: It has come to my attention that there has been a complaint about the fire department pertaining to a call that we responded to on 7/22 dealing with a part of a tree that had fell on a house. I was not on scene in person because I work as an electrician for my day job,but I was in contact with your fire department members throughout the call. From our point of view there was no additional electrical hazard to the property due to the main breaker on the house being turned off. We also contacted the home owner, and explained what was going on to him, and he asked us not to pull the meter from the house.
In addition there was a comment made regarding that our members are not properly trained. That is a blatant misrepresentation of Gurley Fire and Rescue. Every person on that scene except for 1 has completed Firefighter 1 through the Alabama Fire College, and recieve there yearly training hours, and more that are required to keep that certification
I thought about posting this for sometime, and came to the conclusion that something needed to be said. There has been miss conceptions and misrepresentation of this fire department for far too long. We have done everything in our power, and by the book for the past five years so we can provide our community with the best all hazard service we can. If you have any questions or concerns please reach out to us through messenger or phone.
Thank you,
Chief Thompson
