Jason's Horticulture Hot Take is back!
On your next morning stroll through your garden while you admire those blooming flowers and growing veggies, use these tips:

Pest patrol 🐛 — Keep an eye out for sneaky insects, diseases, and weeds trying to crash the party.

Bug removal đŸȘČ â€” Pluck off grasshoppers, worms, and beetles and drop them into a soapy-water spa (or give them the ol’ squish).

Flower + veggie check đŸŒŒđŸ„• — Look for aphids and thrips on blooms and veggies, scale on shrubs and trees, and lace bugs on azaleas and dogwoods.

Water blast 💩 — Give pests a strong spray of water or treat them with the right insecticide.

Disease watch 🍄 — Stay alert for powdery mildew, rust, and black spot, and treat with an appropriate fungicide.

Weed wrangling 🌿 — Pull a couple handfuls of weeds during each stroll to keep your garden tidy and thriving.

Thinking about using an “honor system” stand for your cottage food business?

Under Alabama’s Cottage Food Law, this is allowed if the stand is located on your own property. Cottage food products must still be sold directly to the consumer, so selling from off-site locations (like roadside stands away from your home or in stores) is not permitted.

Have questions about cottage food rules? We’re here to help!
