Lucky Cat Dog Farm

Lucky Cat Dog Farm What we do well is to create a trip for you and your family that will allow everyone to participate at whatever level they wish.

Our goal is to share with our passengers the thrill and excitement of the dog sledding experience. Our trips are designed to be fun, exciting, educational and even relaxing; amazingly, they are many things to many people. The dogs love adventures, so the trips we do are out into the backcountry. They last about 2 hours (depending on weather and trail conditions). People are invited to be as intera

ctive with the dogs as they like. Prices: $165/person for adults
$150/person for kids 12 and under. We meet passengers at the trail head at 10:00. Call to make reservations,
Look forward to hearing from you!!

I'm sad. My heart is broken. The Gunnison Valley has lost
Someone who made positives changes in the Valley; someo e who put a smile on everyone's face.
We have lost someone in the Valley who was well known in the world of dog mushing, someone who gave shelter to
Dogs when they needed a home and introduced people to
The joys of mushing. She was a dressage horse woman, a volunteer who helped people with PTSD and children with special needs, someone with integrity and a warm heart who was always there to help her friends, her dogs, her horses and others ,regardless of their gender ,race or religion. She was a bone marrow donor and someone deeply concerned about the environment. That woman is Becky Barkman,an icon,a legend in the Valley and around the USA. She was also my wife.
She leaves behind her husband, Jesus Lopez, her mother,Caroline Barkman, her sister Betty and brother Bill Barkman, 4 nephews and many loving friends. She also leaves behind many dogs and horses who are still looking for her to come up the road.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart to the family, friends and volunteers that have walked with me before, during and after Becky's journey. To all of you, I owe you a debt of gratitude . Jesus Lopez.

Fun winter morning with Lucky Cat Dog Farm! Thanks so much Becky!

Sliding over the snow pulled by happy enthusiastic dogs. Silent except for the swish of runners on the trail and the breathing of the dogs. Breath that frosts their fur. Moments ago they were loud, leaping and yipping "Let us go!!!" Happy to be on the trail, they whisk you over the snow into the adventure of a lifetime.

Great news! I heard from the walk-in freezer supplier and they should be shipping mine next week!!! Yeah! Heart felt thanks to all of you who contributed to this effort. We got close and in the end I was loaned the remaining amount from a dear friend who said "You need this this year!" He 's right. I have been collecting meat and bones since early Sept and every inch of freezer space I have is full. That is five chest freezers and one upright. The dogs are happy to eat meat and bones, but at a point they just look at it like " Meat again! Really!" So it doesn't disappear as fast as I would hope . This time of year I could feed a lot more dogs. Anybody want some bones? Grass fed organic meat?
So THANK YOU dear friends who made this possible and continue to support the effort and pay back the loan. Great sloppy kisses to you all. and wish for snow!

I lost a long time friend on Sunday , Sagg, short for Sagitarius, the astrology sign for the traveler, teacher and sage. He was almost 14 and had lived with me since he was 6 weeks old. He and his brother Pices (who is still here), came as tiny puppies and grew to be some of the best lead dogs I have ever worked with. Their sister Pema joined us as well. After retirement, Sagg lived the life of a house dog, running errands and getting to go whenever there was going to be done. He followed me everywhere, and if you ever had the experience of visiting the dog yard, he was the one who gently put himself in a position to be petted. Lately though, he had decided he would mostly rather stay home. I will miss you very much dear boy. ...when we let our hearts break, we discover our kinship with other beings.
