We could not have said it better ourselves.

There were countless hours of hard work across multiple agencies to put this case together. Everyone’s willingness to come together for the purpose of obtaining justice for Lauren Johansen finally paid off today with a guilty plea to capital murder. Bricen Rivers was given a life sentence without the possibility of parole.

Thank you to each person that had a hand in this case. Your hard work is appreciated more than you know!

Today, Bricen Rivers pled guilty to capital murder and received a sentence of LIFE without the possibility of parole for the murder of Lauren Johansen.

This was a truly heinous crime where the dangers of domestic violence cannot be denied. Obtaining justice for Lauren is something that my trial partner, Bryan Buckley, and I have worked on extensively for over two years.

Results like this do not happen without substantial collaboration. I would like to personally and publicly thank all of the following agencies for their assistance in obtaining justice for Lauren Johansen:

Please join us in celebrating our recent Employee of the Month recipients, Mary Katharine Sullivan!

MK was nominated for this award due to her willingness to always help and make herself available. If you have seen her at yoga or baseball tournaments, you may have seen her whip out a laptop from time to time. That is because she stays as prepared as possible!

Recently, she helped in identifying the suspect vehicle responsible for stealing a lawn mower, side by side, and trailer. This resulted in the equipment being quickly and successfully recovered.

Today, we are taking a moment to both remember and honor the life of Deputy Robert Immel who served with our agency for almost twenty years.

Deputy Immel dedicated much of his career to serving not only our community but others as well. Deputy Immel began his career in the Harrison County Adult Detention Center until he shifted his career to working as a Patrol Deputy. Deputy Immel also served on the K9 Unit in multiple capacities during his career. He was also a very involved member of our Cooking Team and Disaster Relief Team.

Although he represented our badge well, behind that badge was a person that was a colleague, friend, and family member to others. The memories we shared with him we will hold close to our hearts. Rest easy Deputy Immel, and you will certainly be missed.

Just wanted to draw attention to the latest desperate scammer fail 🙄

The good news (I guess?) is they finally got the state seal correct.

However… none of these are codes or statutes, those are very made up. I personally love the use of AL for the Mississippi warrant number. But my absolute favorite part is that this warrant is actually from the future you guys. This warrant came from 2027 as you can see on the date at the bottom.

The jury questionnaire is certainly new, but if you take a moment to check into those phone numbers it’s not legit. Also this is a Harrison County jury questionnaire, yet they forgot to remove Jefferson County (scamming ain’t easy am I right?) also the check boxes I mean come on we would make it more pleasing to the eyes than that.

Don’t fall for this one!

Happy first day back at school!! We are hoping to have a safe and productive school year.

Please remember to keep a lookout for school zones. Also, expect traffic to be a little more chaotic around the schools for the next few days as everyone gets back on schedule and in the swing of things.

Detective Joseph Campese if you are out there we have actual investigators that truly do have questions here at the Harrison County Sheriffs Office if you don’t mind giving us a call. 👀

Here is an example of the scam going around today/this evening. We’ve received various detective names and phone numbers, but just remember you guys we won’t ask for money over the phone.

In an instance like this if you aren’t sure, we recommend googling our Sheriffs Office number, inputting the number yourself, and calling to speak with such “detective” that way we can confirm for you that it’s a scam attempt!
