Grief isn’t limited to the loss of someone we personally knew.

Events like September 11 can create collective grief—when communities, generations, or even an entire nation experience loss and trauma together.

Anniversaries can bring emotions back unexpectedly, even decades later. Images, stories, sounds, or memories may stir sadness, anxiety, anger, or fear.

There is no expiration date on grief. Give yourself—and others—permission to feel whatever this week may bring. 💛

When we remember September 11, we also remember the helpers.

First responders ran toward danger. Strangers carried strangers. Communities donated blood, opened their homes, stood in lines to help, and found countless ways to care for one another.

There is something powerful about knowing that even in moments of tremendous fear and uncertainty, people have the capacity to choose compassion.

May we continue choosing to be helpers—in the big moments and the small ones. ❤️🤍💙

This week, we pause to remember.

Nearly 25 years later, September 11 remains a day woven into our collective memory—a day of unimaginable loss, extraordinary courage, and people reaching for one another in the midst of tragedy.

Throughout this week, we’ll reflect on remembrance, grief, resilience, and the importance of human connection during our most difficult moments. 🇺🇸

🌱 Recovery Is Possible

We began this week remembering the lives lost to overdose.

We want to end it by celebrating something equally important:

Hope.

Recovery doesn’t always happen in a straight line. It can include difficult days, setbacks, starting over, rebuilding relationships and learning how to live differently.

But every step forward matters.

If you’re in recovery today — we’re rooting for you.

If you’re thinking about asking for help — you’re worth helping.

If you love someone who is struggling — you deserve support, too.

And if you’ve lost someone to overdose — their life was so much more than the way they died.

Let’s keep talking.
Let’s keep educating.
Let’s keep showing compassion.
And let’s keep making room for recovery. 💜🌱

📍 Help Is Closer Than You Think

If you or someone you love is struggling with substance use, you don’t have to figure out the next step alone.

Baldwin County has resources for substance use treatment, mental health care, medication-assisted treatment, outpatient services, residential treatment and recovery support.

Some local options include:

💜 AltaPointe Health — substance use and behavioral health services throughout Baldwin County

💜 The Shoulder — substance use disorder treatment in Spanish Fort

💜 Longleaf Recovery Baldwin — outpatient addiction and mental health treatment in Spanish Fort

💜 Freedom Center — outpatient opioid-use treatment in Foley

💜 New Pathways Addiction Treatment Center — outpatient opioid-use treatment in Daphne

Reaching out for help isn’t giving up.

It’s choosing what happens next.

Please share this post. You never know who on your friends list may be quietly looking for somewhere to turn. đź’ś

đź’ś Words Matter. Compassion Matters.

Substance use disorder is not a moral failing.

The person struggling with addiction is still someone’s child, parent, sibling, partner, friend, coworker or neighbor.

Shame and stigma can make asking for help even harder. Compassion can help open the door.

Instead of:
“Why don’t you just stop?”

Try:
“I care about you.”
“You don’t have to do this alone.”
“How can I help you find support?”

We can hold boundaries while still treating people with dignity.

Sometimes the first step toward recovery is simply knowing someone believes you’re worth helping. 💜

The Remembered Sessions are officially open.

If you’ve experienced miscarriage, stillbirth, or infant loss, we would be honored to give you a space to remember and honor your baby. Sessions are pay what you can—including $0 (message Makayla if you need the $0 option).

And we need our community. We’re looking for local businesses, organizations, and individuals who would like to become community partners and help us make this day extra special with small gifts and meaningful touches to honor every mama who walks through our doors.

Today, I’m asking you to do one of three things: book a session, become a community partner, or share this so it reaches a mama or business who needs to see it.

October 3 we’re remembering our sweet heavenly babies and reminding every mama that: Your baby was here. Your baby is loved. Your baby is remembered.🤍
